As the term progresses, the school reflects on a core factor shaping every child’s growth: how adults respond during difficult moments. Behind every behavior there is a message—acting out may indicate a need for connection, withdrawal might signal a search for safety, a tantrum can reveal overwhelmed emotions, defiance could reflect a wish for control, and clinginess often points to a need for reassurance. These instances test our patience, yet they also offer meaningful chances to influence emotional wellbeing. Our response matters: approaching with calm, curiosity, and a sense of connection teaches children that their feelings are manageable, that they are safe, and that they deserve support—even on their toughest days. The voices children hear from adults gradually become the inner voice they carry, shaping confidence, resilience and self-worth for years to come. The school remains devoted to nurturing emotional growth and functional independence in addition to academic progress, valuing a strong partnership with families to create environments where children feel seen and supported. Together, we help learners build skills to face challenges, form healthy relationships, and thrive. Remember: behavior is temporary, but how children feel about themselves can last a lifetime. Thank you for your ongoing support and for actively collaborating with our staff to shape our children’s lives. Wishing you a wonderful winter break with your children and treasured moments together. The term featured notable achievements across our sports program. Netball players demonstrated commitment through regular practices, displaying strong teamwork and positive conduct, and acting as ambassadors for the school both on and off the court. In Boccia, students engage in a precision-based activity designed to enhance eye–hand coordination, grasp and release skills, and strategic thinking, offering a competitive yet inclusive experience. The soccer team faced early-season pressures with resilience, delivering solid performances and looking forward to continued growth and enjoyment of the game in the next term. (Page: N/A)
Our learners participated in regular art classes at the Tygerberg Art Centre, contributing to their school’s showcase in May where their artwork adorned the Centre’s walls. Gratitude is extended to the Centre’s management and teachers for their support, and we anticipate future collaborations in term 3. Separately, the Filia School garden continues to thrive thanks to Mr. Adams’ diligent maintenance; the fresh produce supports the NSNP Kitchen, highlighting the link between hands-on learning and community nourishment.
