The AMIL project aims to address the challenges faced by employers in creating inclusive workplaces for Third Country Nationals (TCNs). The toolkit provides practical guidance for hiring, onboarding, training, and retaining TCNs, emphasizing the importance of building readiness, awareness, and support within organizations.
Employers play a crucial role in integrating TCNs into the workforce, by investing in inclusive practices and clear communication. TCNs face challenges such as language barriers, limited knowledge of local practices, legal hurdles, and lack of recognition for their skills. Understanding these barriers is essential for fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Before recruiting TCNs, organizations need to ensure internal readiness to support their integration. Steps like appointing an Inclusion Focal Point, raising staff awareness, and using language-conscious communication can make a significant difference in facilitating a smooth onboarding process and promoting long-term retention.
