RBI Withdraws Rs 2000 Note from Circulation

The Reserve Bank of India has decided to withdraw the Rs 2000 denomination banknotes from circulation, but they will continue to remain as legal tender. Citizens can deposit or exchange these banknotes at any bank branch until September 30, 2023. The decision was made as the objective of introducing Rs 2000 banknotes in 2016 has been fulfilled, and there are enough banknotes of other denominations available. About 89% of Rs 2000 banknotes were issued prior to March 2017.

Congress Leader Siddaramaiah Sworn in as Karnataka Chief Minister

Congress leader Siddaramaiah has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka for the second time after the party's victory in the Assembly elections. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, attended by top Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. Ordinance on Control of Services in Delhi

The Union government brought an ordinance to notify rules for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi regarding transfer, posting, vigilance, and other incidental matters. The ordinance aims to balance the interests of the national capital with local democratic aspirations. It establishes the National Capital Civil Services Authority in Delhi, giving the Chief Minister a role in the transfer and posting of certain officers.
