In this course, we will explore three habits that help us build better relationships: being curious, being present, and reimagining. These habits are essential in navigating disagreements, pursuing justice, practicing forgiveness, and welcoming hope. By being curious, we show interest in others' stories; being present allows us to engage fully with others, and reimagining encourages us to think creatively and hopefully about new possibilities for relationships. It is vital to listen to others' stories, encounter them with authenticity, and find hope in areas that need change (p. 1-3).
Disagreement is expected, but it is important to learn to disagree well. Creating a space where everyone feels listened to without judgment is crucial. Guidelines such as respectful communication, active listening, and empathy can help foster a supportive environment for healthy disagreements (p. 4).
Reflect on how comfortable you are discussing your preferences and how you react when faced with disagreements. Practice the three habits introduced earlier by being curious about others, being present in situations that require peace, and praying for an expanded imagination throughout the course (p. 5).
