In his editorial, Léo Marchal, President of E-Storia, reflects on the growth of the journal from its origins in Nancy to its current expansion in Lorient. The aim of E-Storia is to bring students together and make history accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The first issue of E-Storia Lorient features a variety of articles, including the liberation of Lorient, the hypersexualization of beauty pageants, and profiles of lesser-known figures in the Olympic and Paralympic world.

The article delves into the history of the liberation of Lorient, one of the last cities in France to be freed from Nazi occupation in May 1945. The city, used as a primary submarine base by the Germans, was besieged by Allied forces, leading to a prolonged resistance. The surrender of the German garrison in Lorient marked the end of a significant chapter in the city's history, with the former submarine base later repurposed by the French Navy until 1997.
