Mr. Galabo has previously served as the head of the Tambobong National High School. It is hoped that with his vast background of experience in educational leadership, he would offer something fresh and new methods to come about Sirib NHS. The installation ceremony was graced by fellow school principals and school heads from other schools within Clusters 8 and 9. This only manifested the great support network of the local leaders of education in this cluster. Their presence is indicative of the collaborative spirit necessary to foster academic growth and development in the region. Cluster 8 Public Schools District Supervisor Reynaldo Capul MA, J.D., also graced the occasion with his presence. His encouragement underlines the district’s interest in securing that Sirib NHS blossoms under the leadership of Mr. Galabo. Sir Capul explained that a good leader is needed in schools; he seemed convinced that Mr. Galabo will bring Sirib NHS back to the right track. Despite many obstacles in her way, DCAA qualifier Sheikha Motasam has shown that no hindrance is too great to stop her from reaching her goals. Sheikha Motasam, 12 years old, Grade 7, Sampaguita, is a proud Siribian student. Her will to swim in every competition is what makes her the best athlete. The experiences she faced during elementary school helped her navigate high school better. She proved that with hard work and dedication, success can be found not once, but many times. Living Tradition By: Charlit Joy Resando | News Sirib National High School (SNHS) marked Indigenous People’s Day on October 31, 2024, with the theme “Katutubong Karunungan Tungo Ingklusibong Kaunlaran.” The celebration saw IP (Indigenous People) students showcasing the beauty of indigenous attire as they participated in various activities. This celebration was participated by the students, parents, teachers and the tribal leaders headed by their Tribal Chieftain Datu Castillo Mantawil. The IP Day highlighted different tribal games such as kadang, sack race, tug of war and kasing, where students gave their best to win. It also highlighted the power of teamwork to win the challenges. Our city councilor, Myrna Dalodo – Last September 10, 2024, the University of Mindanao Alumni of Doctor of Education Chapter spearheaded by its esteemed President, ASDS Josie T Bolofer, EdD, CESO VI, successfully conducted an outreach program aimed at enriching the educational experience of the teachers and students of Sirib National High School, as well as the school heads of Cluster 8. The event was organized to foster professional growth, offer career guidance, and enhance the leadership capabilities of educators and learners alike. A key emphasis of this outreach program was to encourage the teachers to continue their education and pursue graduate studies for their professional advancement in preparation for the implementation of the new Career Progression for all teaching and teaching-related positions. Also, present during the event were the officers of UM Alumni EdD Chapter namely Dr. Argel C. Pingot, the Division Education Program Supervisor in Values Education and Dr. Norman R. Galabo, the school head of Sirib National High School, Cluster 8. ASDS Rebecca C. Sagot, CESO VI, was also present and encouraged teachers and school heads to sustain excellent performance according to their expected Key Result Areas (KRAs). Dr. Bolofer clearly emphasized the importance of pursuing graduate and post-graduate studies from CHED recognized schools to ensure reliability and credibility of credentials. She added that completing master’s and doctorate degrees help not only to grow professionally but also to apply for promotions in the future. This is not only for teachers but most importantly for school heads who play a pivotal role in leading schools. ASDS Sagot also explained the benefits of career advancement for greater opportunities in their field of work. Moreover, a career guidance advocacy campaign was also conducted simultaneously where Dr. Pingot facilitated and discussed career choices to the senior high school students for them to be guided on what career path to pursue in college. Sir Argel Pingot shared essential information about various career paths, college applications, and the importance of choosing a profession that aligns with each student’s strengths and passions. The session also provided practical advice on how to prepare for college and the workforce, as well as tips on developing soft skills that are essential for success in any career. The guidance was aimed at helping students gain clarity and confidence for their transition from high school to their next steps in life. Ortiz attended the IP Day, gave gifts and shared her story in our barangay. Hon. Datu Mande also attended and gave knowledge about the rights of IP members. The most awaited part was the competition for the Mr. and Ms. IP. Every section has their own contestant to support. The contestants introduced themselves in a creative way. They highlighted the Bagobo language through speaking, and showed their passion about their culture. In the end, Ms. Ehlyeshalou Oton and Mr. Daryl Lucas won the “Best in IP Attire”. Students showed their knowledge about the Bagobo-Klata language by providing translations for the words given by Sir. Kris Carlo Piccio. Last October 2, 2016 was the first year SNHS celebrated the IP Day after the school was declared to be an IP school. The IP Day celebration acts as a reminder of the IP culture’s presence. It also honors our ancestors. On this day, students gain new knowledge about the culture. We hope to have more celebrations in the coming years.

SNHS students earned several top awards, with Charlit Joy Resando securing 3rd place in Editorial Writing in Filipino, Darren Pandi winning 2nd place in Column Writing in Filipino, and Christian Karl Ayuno taking 3rd place in Science and Technology in English. Additionally, SNHS won 2nd place in both English and Filipino Radio Broadcasting. The event also saw participation from students across Cluster 8 Schools. SNHS journalists were thankful to their School Paper Adviser – Ma’am Gannda Erica Marikit Sayasa along with their coaches Ma’am Quenie Sapin, and Sir Jhon Roy Andoque because during their training they guided the students and helped them to learn and grow in writing. Journalists of SNHS, were very happy because they will be able to compete in the DSPC 2025, which will be held at Mintal Comprehensive High School where students from both public and private scahools will be participating in various events. SNHS Road to DSPC By: Hezel Mae Caingles | News January 30, 2025, the first day of the competition has started. Despite limited preparation, Sirib NHS students showcase their skills and talents in different categories of journalism. The participants, namely Reywen G. Sentorias for Filipino Feature Writing and Janisa Mea Emba for English, Charlit Joy Resando for Editorial Writing in English, Marian Balili for news writing, Darren P. Pandi for Filipino and Jeshen P. Leoligao for English Column Writing, Christian Karl Ayono for Science-Technology Writing, there proctors give them fact sheets and 1 hour to write. Jhon Louie Resando for Filipino Sports Writing, who watched a taekwondo competition along with other participants. They then interviewed the players and the coaches about their preparation for the game. Emie Tan and together with the other Photojournalism participants (English) went to the public market to take photos and interviewed the vendors regarding their lives as such, in a span of three hours. In editorial cartooning, Zyra Leigh Igianon and her co-participants took on the task of illustrating their views on “Artificial Intelligence as a Teacher,” all within just one hour. The radio broadcasting category saw Sirib NHS students shine in both English and Filipino teams. Ehlyeshalou Oton worked as the technical director, while Christian Ignalig and Stephane Nicole Alcaraz served as the news anchors in English. In Filipino, Jharied Quidet led the technical direction, with Carlos Miguel Cloma and Kristal R o s e Tugot as the news anchors. All participants were given news videos to base their script on and later performed a test run in the studio. The result was announced in the afternoon for those who qualified for round two in the individual writing category, in which two students of Sirib NHS qualified, namely, Zyra Leigh Igianon for Editorial Cartooning in English category and Darren Pandi for Column Writing in the Filipino category. On the next day of the competition, January 31, 2025, the two qualifiers are ready to compete again and gave their best, along with the seven participants of the Filipino Radio Broadcasting team. Despite the challenges, one of the Sirib NHS students achieved success: Zyra Leigh Igianon qualified for the upcoming Regional School Press Conference (RSPC) 2025 after placing fourth in editorial cartooning.

Preparation and celebration of SNHS on Pakig-AMBIT 2024 By: Arcel M. Oton | News Sirib National High School (SNHS), a member of Cluster 8, recently hosted the Pakig-AMBIT 2024, a school-wide celebration aimed at promoting creativity and community spirit. As one of the chosen schools, the school head Norman R. Galabo immediately instructed the teachers to make a parol per section to decorate it in the campus. Featuring a parol (lantern) decorating competition among all grade levels, with students working together to create beautiful and unique parols for the campus was one of the highlights of the event. As one of the main purposes, Ma’am Faye Genevieve Pasamonte, observed the school and the Grade 7 students science class. Sir Irvin John Salegon is the one that helps Ma’am Faye to show around in the school. Pakig-AMBIT 2024, became a memorable day for Grade 7 students, when ma’am Faye Genevieve Pasamonte observed their science class. I interviewed one of the students in Grade 7 named Jake T. Cuevas said “Nalipay ko kay nay nag observe og nakakita sa among science class nga visitors. Nalipay sad ko kay nakatuon kog Force and Motion, og nagpasalamat sad ko kay ma’am Faye sa pag bisita sa among klase”. In the parol competition, among all the grade levels, Grade 10 Rizal emerged as the winner for creating the most creative parol made from bunot (coconut husks). Pakig-AMBIT 2024 proved to be a memorable and successful event, showcasing the talent, cooperation, and school pride of Sirib National High School’s students and staff.

After all, the students had to restore the gym back to its original condition prior to the program. The Sirib National High School also had to check with the Elementary School first to avoid conflict in their schedules. But still, Sirib NHS is thankful for the kindness that was given by Sirib Elementary School for letting them use their gym. The construction started on March 7, 2024 and up until now it is still under construction. The gym was built for the benefit and welfare of the students. Even if the gym is still under construction, the gym is already being used for students to rehearse their performances and for school programs. The Regular Infrastructure Projects of Fiscal Year 2024 has released a budget of 7 million pesos for the construction of the multipurpose gym in which the Jameetrix Construction Incorporated was commissioned to do the project. In the past few years, when the gym was not yet built, students of Sirib National High School found it hard where to practice their performances, especially if there are school programs that must be conducted, like, foundation anniversary celebration, Moving-up Ceremonies, and Graduation Ceremonies, that was why Sirib National High School was always seeking for the help of Sirib Elementary School to borrow their gym. “After Sirib National High School was established 56 years ago, the work on the multi-purpose gym has finally begun.” But the challenge did not stop there. Students had to carry the chairs, tables, sound system, The construction of the multi-purpose gym is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of the school year 2024-2025. The Sirib National High School is hoping that when the construction of the gym is finished, the students, faculty and staff will benefit in using the gym. With vhis gym, it will surely offer a lot of opportunities for students to conduct programs and schoolbased activities without asking for the permission of others and worrying about the schedule. Sirib National Highschool Celebrates its 56th Founding Anniversary By: Rachelle Ann Emba | News Sirib National High School marked its 56th Founding Anniversary on October 26, 2025, at the school gym, celebrating its rich history and the contributions of its stakeholders. The event featured a stakeholders’ forum, a Holy Mass, Program Proper, The Coronation of Mr. and Ms. Sirib NHS 2024, and a recognition ceremony for the stakeholders. The celebration ended with a message of gratitude from the faculty president, Sir Renerio Onggo, who thanked everyone for their unending support. The program comprised three parts- The Holy mass, Program Proper and Coronation of Mr and Ms. Sirib NHS. In the morning, the program proper started at 7:00 a.m. with a Holy mass, followed by a mass dance competition among the students, organized by year level. The students showcased their talents. The judges also showed their dancing skills. After that, the awards were presented, with Grade 7 being declared as the winner of the mass dance competition, followed by Grade 12 in the 2nd place, grade11 in the 3rd place, Grades 8 and 9 in 4th place and Grade 10 in the 5th place. Part of the celebration was the stakeholders’ forum, which aimed to celebrate and recognize the vital role of parents, teachers, alumni, local government units, partners and community members who have played crucial roles in supporting the school’s mission and vision. Afterwards, all the stakeholders were given certificates of appreciation for their unending support to the school. The coronation of Mr. and Ms. Sirib NHS happened in the afternoon, at the SNHS gymnasium. Beautiful faces with confidence, showcased their attires with poise and grace. As the day ended, Kent Francis Dejacto was crowned as Mr. Sirib NHS 2024 and Johana Mae Semera Danila as Ms. Sirib NHS 2024. Cloma | Sports The Boston Celtics clinched the NBA Championship after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in just five games of the best-of-seven NBA Finals, held last year on June 18, 2024. The Finals took place at the Celtics’ and Mavericks’ respective arenas. Jaylen Brown led the team, averaging 23 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block, and 4 assists per game while playing 33.5 minutes on the court. His strong duo with Jayson Tatum helped their team offense work, making it easier to defeat the Dallas Mavericks. Jaylen Brown was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the NBA finals. In a postgame interview, Brown expressed his appreciation, stating, “This championship was a team effort. Tatum, Horford, and everyone played a part. I’m just happy to contribute to this moment for the team and the fans.” The Celtics dominated throughout the series, particularly in Game 1. In the opening game, Boston’s defense stifled the Mavericks’ offense, leading to an 18-point victory, 107-89. Brown led the charge with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks, while Tatum chipped in with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal. Team captain Jharied Quidet encouraged his team to play in their full potential to win. As for Blue hawks, team captain Capricho, pray for his team to be the champion in the Sirib Volleyball League to achieve the trophy and the cash worh Five-thousand Pesos. The fourth set started by a jump serve by Kent Dejacto that leads to service error, and the first score was on the side of green pythons. Green pythons go for a killer serve by Jayson Omac and broke the defense of blue hawks. The clash between blue hawks and green pythons made the ball set on fire, as both team unleased their powerful spikes, strong defense and smart play. But still, green pythons offense and determination to win did not lead them to victory. Blue hawk powerful spikes made the defense of green pythons became weaker. Blue hawks take over the fourth and final set with a score of 26-24. Blue hawks celebrated for their win, as they were called the champion in Sirib Volleyball League. I interviewed the team captain of blue hawks, Wency Capricho, and said “I’m so happy kay na champion mi, and for the experience nasad”. Even the Green phyton defeated by blue hawks, they are still happy because they are qualified to play in championship game in Sirib Volleyball League. Both teams were given a certificate, and blue hawks awarded with a trophy and a Fivethousand pesos. time with a 7-point lead (105-98), taking a 2-0 series lead. In this game, Jrue Holiday dropped a doubledouble, averaging 26 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block, followed by Jayson Tatum almost achieving a triple-double. He showed his playmaking skills, averaging 18 points, 9 rebounds, 12 assists, and 1 steal, helping the team to get a 7-point lead. In Game 3, Boston secured the win in a close battle, finishing 106-94. Game 3 was led by Jaylen Brown, averaging 30 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, and 1 block, followed by Jayson Tatum dropping 31 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have made big contributions to the team’s offense. Moving on to Game 4, the Dallas Mavericks beat the Celtics by a massive 38-point lead in the score 122-84, leaving Celtics fans in shock. Game 4 was led by Luka Doncic, averaging 29 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal. Luka’s offense is unstoppable, followed by Kyrie Irving dropping 21 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 steal in game 4. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving lifted the team to get the massive 38-point lead. But in Game 5, the Boston Celtics refused to let the Mavericks gain any momentum. They took an 18-point lead, winning 106-88 and ensuring that Dallas wouldn’t take another win. In the end, the Boston Celtics regained the championship after years; through their strong defense and their good teamwork, they got their 18th championship. All gender identities have equal opportunities, rights, and responsibilities in all aspects of life. Equality helps to encourage students to fully participate in social, economic, and political activities. Sirib National High School (SNHS) conducted a one-day Gender and Development seminar on December 14, 2024 at Villa Nilda Garden Resort in Feriols St, Lizada, Toril, Davao City. The faculty, staff, and other stakeholders of SNHS gathered for this activity. This seminar was made possible by the GAD focal person, Mrs. Jhudia R. Sahidain, and the school head, Sir Norman R. Galabo, EdD, with the approval of the Schools Division Superintendent, Sir Reynante A. Solitaryo CESO V. This activity began like a boiling of water, spreading heat and excitement in every minute before it became successful. This seminar was privileged to have the presence of Ma’am Maya D. Mosqueda, SNED Division Coordinator, who talked about “Empowering Educators: Strategies for Inclusive Supporting Learners with Special Needs in the Classroom” She made a point to address the learners with special needs, emphasizing that teachers must have patience and love towards these learners. She also encouraged the teachers to make an effort in knowing the background information of the learners. After Ma’am Mosqueda discussed her topic, Sir Irvin John Salegon, ICT, Coordinator, Overall, Sirib NHS was grateful to participate in the said activity since it was composed of brilliant speakers, who contributed to the improvement of the participants’ welfare and holistic development. With this activity, teachers are holding a mirror that reflects challenges they need to address, to advocate equality for students who are discriminated against, and create an inclusive classroom for a better learning environment, while for students, they feel less discriminated against so that their confidence will boost as they feel more welcomed in the society. waved the flag of victory, with their shout for joy. Sirib National High School students joined various reading activities to promote the love for reading. As a response to pressing needs to address the reading and literacy concerns, the Division of Davao City conducts a nationwide celebration of Pambansang Buwan at Araw ng Pagbasa (PBAP) with the theme “Sa PAGBASA may PAG-ASA”. Last November 2024, the kickoff for the month-long celebration for the National Reading Month starts with the brief discussion about the theme and announcing the scheduled activities such as speech choir, choral reading and storytelling that was conducted by Mrs. Maricris Basoy, the School Reading Coordinator and Mrs. Judith Betil, the School Pagbasa Coordinator with the help of Mrs. Maria Corazon Hasiman, the English Coordinator. On November 22,2024, all learners, teachers, and school officials were encouraged to participate in the Nationwide Synchronized Reading at exactly 9:00 AM Philippine Standard Time (PST) for the Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Activity. The same day, the speech choir competition shared his knowledge about “Mental Health in the Workplace”. He discussed managing stress and providing relief to the heavy burdens that teachers’ carry. Lastly, Sir Kris Carlo P. Picco, the SSLG adviser, delivered the topic “Equipping 21st Century Teachers to Handle LGBTQ+ Learners”. He emphasized the importance of sexuality and gender fairness among male, female, and LGBTQ groups. showcased students’ public skills, as they delivered powerful performances of the given literary pieces. All grade levels except Grade 12 demonstrated confidence, creativity and effective communication skills. Aside from beauty and glamour, what does the crown truly mean? The coronation of Mr. and Ms. SNHS is not just a ceremony; it is more than that—it is a symbol of leadership and an opportunity to be a role model and the pride of the school. Johana Mae Semera Danila, 14 years old, Grade 9 Narra, a girl with a beautiful personality and a humble heart, was crowned Ms. SNHS 2024. She said, “Gaan sa paminaw na ako gi koronahan as Ms. SNHS 2024.” She felt relieved when she was crowned. But for her, it was not just about the title. She also aimed to contribute to the construction of the SNHS gymnasium as it was part of the fundraising effort. She was proud to be chosen as the one to be crowned. “Proud ako because I felt too much happiness because I didn’t just become Ms. SNHS, I helped the school and became a role model for every Siribian.” After the event, students became eager and willing to help Sirib National High School. Kent Francis Ponsica Dejacto, 17 years old, Grade 12 Courage, is the boy with a soft heart but a strong personality on the outside— genuinely kind and smart. He was crowned Mr. SNHS 2024. Like Ms. SNHS 2024, he also wanted to help the school. His mother encouraged him to join because she also wanted to help the school. “Gipa-apil ko sa akong mama, and ang akong mama sad ang nagbayad,” said our Mr. SNHS 2024. Behind the students who were crowned are great inspirations for every student who wants to be a role model for the school. Johana and Kent, our Mr. and Ms. SNHS 2024, have played their roles very well. They inspire each student not only to go to school and learn every lesson but also to help the school improve and ensure that every student at Sirib National High School has a great future and a better tomorrow. Given the fact that not all students joined, little as we might say but it made a big difference for the school. Students were not fully aware of this difference but little did they know that their contributions would help improve the school. Behind the story of our Mr. and Ms. SNHS 2024 are students who simply want to help the school improve and make their parents proud. The crown and title are not just a crown and title. When it comes to the school, they have a big impact and contribute to the improvement of the school. It is the steady guidance she provided, the warmth of her presence and the dedication to her role that made her more than just an administrator. Elma Apao was born on December 13,1959, and now she’s 65 years old. She worked for 33 years, from April 1991 until her retirement on December 14, 2024. Elma Apao was the person you can count on. She was Her work is the backbone of an institution, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind her role as an admin assistant. She’s more than just efficiency and organization, she was the heart of her workplace. Beyond her tasks and responsibilities, she built relationships, once founded on trust, respect, and care. Her years of service were not just about clocking in and out, they were about making a difference in the lives of those she worked with. As she said goodbye to the office, she was called home for so long. We do not just say goodbye, we also say thank you. Thank you for your dedication, your kindness, and your tireless efforts ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Thank you for the moments you gave without expecting anything in return. While her desk may be empty, her impact will remain memorable to everyone. So, here’s to Ma’am Elma Apao, our guiding hand, a very kind, and dear friend to teachers and students.
