The deal, worth over Rs 63,000 crore, will be executed under a government-to-government agreement with France, government sources told ANI. The contract will include 22 single-seater and four twin-seater Rafale Marine jets. It also comprises a comprehensive package for fleet maintenance, logistical support, personnel training, and indigenous manufacturing components under offset obligations. Deliveries of the Rafale M jets are expected to begin approximately five years after the deal is signed. These fighters will be deployed on INS Vikrant, India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, and will complement the Navy’s existing MiG-29K fleet. The Indian Air Force (IAF) already operates 36 Rafale jets at its bases in Ambala and Hashimara. The new Rafale Marine deal will also help enhance the IAF’s capabilities, including Remember: upgrading its “buddybuddy” aerial refuelling system. This feature will enable around 10 IAF Rafale aircraft to refuel others mid-air, thus extending their operational range. Defence sources told ANI earlier that the deal will likely include ground-based equipment and software upgrades for the IAF fleet. Additionally, the Navy will need to install specialised equipment on its aircraft carriers to support the operations of the 4.5generation Rafale jets. While the MiG29Ks will continue to operate from INS Vikramaditya, the induction of the Rafale Marine jets is expected to boost the Navy’s airpower significantly. Looking ahead, the Indian Navy is also planning to induct indigenous fifth-generation fighter jets, which are under development by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).The upcoming twin-engine deck-based fighter aircraft is likely to be the naval counterpart of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) being developed for the Indian Air Force by the Aeronautical Development Agency. He inaugurated the new Pamban Rail Bridge — India’s first vertical lift sea bridge — and flagged off a train and a ship from the road bridge and witnessed the operation of the bridge. He also performed darshan and pooja at the Ramanathaswamy temple at Rameswaram. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, PM Modi said that today marks the auspicious occasion of Shri Ram Navami. He said that earlier on Sunday, the divine rays of the sun adorned Ram Lalla with a grand tilak at the magnificent Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. “Lord Shri Ram’s life and the inspiration of good governance from his reign serve as a significant foundation for nation-building,” he said, adding that Tamil Nadu’s Sangam-era literature also mentions Lord Shri Ram. He extended heartfelt greetings to all citizens on the occasion of Shri Ram Navami from the sacred land of Rameshwaram. “I feel blessed to have prayed at the Ramanathaswamy temple today,” said PM Modi, adding that on this special day, he had the opportunity to hand over development projects worth Rs 8,300 crore. He stressed that these rail and road projects will significantly boost connectivity in Tamil Nadu. He congratulated the people in Tamil Nadu for these transformative initiatives. Noting that Rameswaram is the land of Bharat Ratna Dr. Kalam, whose life demonstrated how science and spirituality complement each other, the Prime Minister said, “The new Pamban bridge to Rameswaram symbolises the union of technology and tradition.” He emphasised that a town thousands of years old is now connected by a 21st-century engineering marvel. He expressed gratitude to the engineers and workers for their dedication and hard work. PM Modi highlighted that this bridge is India’s first vertical lift railway sea bridge, allowing big ships to sail underneath while enabling faster train travel. He mentioned flagging off a new train service and a ship earlier today and congratulated the people of Tamil Nadu for this remarkable project. Underlining that the demand for this bridge had persisted for many decades, PM Modi said that, with the blessings of the people, the privilege of completing this work was achieved. He emphasised that the Pamban bridge supports both Ease of Doing Business and Ease of Travel, positively impacting the lives of lakhs of people. The Prime Minister underscored that the new train service will enhance connectivity from Rameswaram to Chennai and other parts of the country. He added that this development will benefit trade and tourism in Tamil Nadu, while also creating new job and business opportunities for the youth. “In the past 10 years, India has doubled the size of its economy,” mentioned PM Modi, highlighting that one of the key reasons for this rapid growth is the country’s remarkable modern infrastructure. He stressed that in the last decade, the budget for infrastructure such as railways, roads, airports, ports, electricity, water, and gas pipelines has increased nearly sixfold. “Today, mega projects are progressing rapidly across the country,” he exclaimed, pointing out that in the North, the Chenab Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir, one of the world’s tallest rail bridges, has been constructed. He added that in the West, Mumbai is now home to the country’s longest sea bridge, the Atal Setu. He further added that in the East, the Bogibeel Bridge in Assam stands as a testament to progress, while in the South, the Pamban Bridge, one of the world’s few vertical lift bridges, has been completed. The Prime Minister further highlighted that the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors are nearing completion. He emphasised that work is progressing rapidly on the country’s first bullet train, while modern trains like Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat are making the rail network more advanced. Stressing that when every region of India connects with one another, the path to becoming a developed nation strengthens, PM Modi said that this has been the case in every developed nation and region across the world. He emphasized that as every state in India connects, the full potential of the country is being realized. He noted that this connectivity is benefiting every region of the nation, including Tamil Nadu. “Tamil Nadu plays a significant role in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation,” exclaimed the Prime Minister, underscoring that as Tamil Nadu’s potential grows, India’s growth will accelerate further. He emphasised that over the past decade, the central government has allocated three times more funds for Tamil Nadu’s development compared to the period before 2014. He noted that this increased funding has greatly contributed to Tamil Nadu’s economic and industrial growth. Underlining that infrastructure development in Tamil Nadu is a priority for the Government of India, PM Modi highlighted that over the past decade, Tamil Nadu’s railway budget has increased more than sevenfold. He added that before 2014, rail projects in Tamil Nadu received only Rs 900 crore annually, while this year, the railway budget for Tamil Nadu exceeds Rs 6,000 crore. He further highlighted that the Government of India is modernizing 77 railway stations in the state, including the Rameswaram station. Pointing out the significant progress that has been made in the development of rural roads and highways over the last ten years, the Prime Minister highlighted that since 2014, with the support of the central government, 4,000 kilometres of roads have been constructed in Tamil Nadu, adding that the elevated corridor connecting Chennai Port will be another example of remarkable infrastructure. He further mentioned that today, foundation stones were laid and inaugurations were conducted for road projects worth approximately Rs 8,000 crore. He said that these projects will enhance connectivity across various districts of Tamil Nadu and also improve links with Andhra Pradesh. The Prime Minister noted that modern public transport systems like the Chennai Metro are enhancing ease of travel in Tamil Nadu, emphasising that extensive infrastructure development leads to the creation of new jobs across various sectors. Underscoring the record investments in social infrastructure in India during the last decade, PM Modi expressed happiness that crores of families in Tamil Nadu have benefited from these initiatives. He highlighted that in the last 10 years, more than 4 crore pucca houses have been provided to poor families across the country, including over 12 lakh pucca houses built in Tamil Nadu under the PM Awas Yojana. The court said that it is clear from the records that the complainant has filed a false complaint corridors, he added. Earlier on March 25, Nitin Gadkari said that in the next two years, the Indian roads will be better than those of the United States. “I don’t think there is any problem in the road sector. The changes this year and next year will be so significant that earlier I used to say our highway road network would match that of the US, but now I say that within two years, our highway network will be even better than the US,” he added. Gadkari exuded confidence that India will surpass the US in EV adoption and manufacturing in the next five years. The Union Minister explained the ministry’s works and added that the distance between cities such as Delhi, Dehradun, Jaipur, or Bengaluru will drastically reduce. (ANI) Delhi court orders FIR against man for forcing daughter to file false POCSO case against wife, in-laws against all the respondents at the instance of her father. “ T h e complainant went to the extent of dragging all her maternal uncles, maternal g r a n d m o t h e r, maternal aunt and advocate in this case,” the judge expressed her concern. It is also clear from the record that the sole purpose of filing the false complaint before the police was the ongoing disputes between both sides, the court added. The court, while giving directions to the police, said, “In the present case, the father of the complainant went ahead in filing a false complaint through the complainant against his in-laws. He did not spare even the advocate, who was representing his wife and in-laws in the cases against him.” “He pressurised the complainant to file a false complaint against her own relatives. At the time of filing of the complaint, the complainant was a minor. She was residing with her father and had no place to go. Even though she was a student of law and she understood the consequences of her acts, in order to save her father, she succumbed to his demand and filed a false complaint,” Special Judge Anu Agarwal noted. The court pointed out that this case is also a classic example that shows how the father of the complainant misused the provision of law not only to settle his personal scores with his relatives but also to deter the advocate, whose only fault was that he was giving his professional services to those relatives. The court said that advocates are considered to be Officers of the Court. It is crucial that advocates should be able to represent their clients fearlessly, upholding their interests without any fear of harassment, intimidation or implication in false cases. 30 Crore People Came Out of Poverty in India in 10 Years: Uttarakhand CM Dhami D e h r a d u n (Uttarakhand) [India], April 7 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday said that nearly 30 crore people have been lifted out of poverty in the past decade due to the Central Government’s policies. When this base is completed, it will be the largest base in Asia,” he said. Project Director of Project Seabird, Commander Amit Turan, said, “Project Seabird is the largest naval base in Asia. It’s spread over almost 11,000 acres of land. The Defence Minister inaugurated seven piers, 400 accommodations, and certain trunk facilities here today... Ships are not only about steel and machinery. It is also about men supporting them. So facilities like accommodations and a hospital are being constructed here by Project Seabird.” Singh said that India is committed to protecting the interests of all nations in the Indian Ocean while maintaining their sovereignty. “India is committed to safeguarding the interests of all in the Indian Ocean while upholding the sovereignty of every nation,” said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Karwar on Saturday. India ensures that everyone’s interests are protected without compromising anyone’s sovereignty,” he said. Singh highlighted that India’s growing presence in the Indian Ocean Region serves not only its national interests but also enhances the security of friendly nations, ensuring safety for all. “On this historic occasion, I feel both proud and happy to be present on the 10th anniversary of the SAGAR initiative. IOS SAGAR is now embarking on its journey to the Indian Ocean.
