Heroes once robed in honor’s bright hue, Now face the scorn of a mocking view. They stood for justice, bled for the right, Waged unseen wars in the coldest night. Yet their names, now dragged through the mire, Burn under tongues that stoke the pyre. Meanwhile, the wolves in silken disguise Wear crowns forged from deceitful lies. Their hands still stained, their hearts still cold, Are polished in tales of glory told. What strange enchantment blinds the crowd, To cheer the cruel and spurn the proud? Who twists the lens, who warps the frame, To tarnish the pure and gild the blame? Perhaps it’s fear that guides the hand, Afraid of truth they cannot withstand. Or envy’s whisper, sly and small, That seeks to topple the noble tall. But heroes endure though stories fade, Their virtues tempered, their courage stayed. While murderers, in fleeting fame, Leave naught behind but a sullied name. O world, unmask your sightless gaze, Dare to walk through the foggy haze. For light and shadow are clearer seen, When the heart remains both true and keen.
