Christmas Fair Pub News Thank you to the handful of familiar faced, kind volunteers who helped in both the lead up and on the day of the recent village tidy up. The Llanasa Church Christmas Fair will be held on 30th November at Llanasa Church. There will be performances to enjoy from the children of Ysgol Trelawnyd, Mornant, Gronant and Trelogan along with a treasure hunt, crafts, quiz and a bran tub. The event runs from 1pm 3.30pm. A great opportunity to get into the festive spirit and start your Christmas celebrations! Red Recycling Bags There are rumours circulating about the Red Lion. We’ve heard that the pub is under offer and should be open again in the Spring. Watch this space! Congratulations to the recently reopened White Lion, Glan Yr Afon. The pub has been beautifully refurbished and is now also serving food. Details of their menu and opening times is on their Facebook page. Flavours of India at your doorstep We are very lucky to have a local lady, Sonia, who specialises in crafting fantastic home-cooked Punjabi food, made to order for our local community. Flintshire County Council are introducing a trial of new red recycling bags for metals, plastics and cartons. The 12 week trial running from Monday, November 25 to Friday, February 14, 2025 aims to find out if residents and collection crews find the new red bags to be more 'user-friendly' than the current grey bag, the council says. Following a recent consultation, it was determined that the existing grey bags are 'too small' and 'fall over in high winds'. Lets see how the road looks in Llanasa after the next windy bin day!! Village Tidy Up It's wonderful to recognise these few people for selflessness and dedication to helping keep YOUR village tidy. Sadly it’s often the same people despite the recognition and donuts on the day! Let's take a moment to appreciate their efforts and encourage others to follow in their footsteps. This work is for the benefit of the whole village so please lend your support. New Arrivals We hope to be able to share news of new residents to the village in future editions. In this issue we are delighted to share a photo of Alfie, our newest resident and his Mum Eli. Eli, Robin & Trudi Davies’ Cockerpoo, gave birth to 5 healthy puppies at the beginning of July and Alfie is the new addition to the Davies family. Eli is a therapy dog and Trudi regularly takes her to St Kentigern Hospice. Alfie will follow suit soon. In addition to the regular menu, each week there are also 2 specials (one meat, one vegetarian) – full information is available on her Facebook page or message Sonia via WhatsApp on 07769 006597. Almost £400 was raised on the night for the Village Hall. Well done to the Mavericks and all those who took part!

Happy Anniversary

Llanasa WI Llanasa Women’s Institute was established in the village 75 years ago. Over the years it has evolved into a fun, educational and social meeting place for the women of the village and surrounding area. Indeed they have members who travel from Rhyl, Prestatyn and Holywell to join them! They meet on the second Tuesday of the month between 7pm and 9pm in the Village Hall, eleven months of the year. In August they have what is loosely referred to as their ‘educational visit’, in other words an official day out. Llanasa Community Council Llanasa Community Council are a pressure group representing our residents’ issues to health authorities, North Wales Police, and other public utilities. They are consulted regularly on a wide range of topics by Flintshire County Council, the Welsh Government, national and regional agencies, and public utilities. They make comments and recommendations on changes which may affect our area and financial donations to various organisations and applications are considered at meetings throughout the year. As a community council, they are responsible for benches, bus shelters, footpaths, notice boards, Picton Cemetery, play areas and schemes and street lighting. More information is available on their website https://llanasacommunitycouncil.gov.uk/. Their next meeting is at 19.15 on 19th November at Ysgol Bryn Garth and everyone is welcome. Notice of attendance should be provided to clerk@llanasacommunitycouncil.gov.uk. As well as regular monthly meetings where they often have a speaker, they take part in other activities. So far this Autumn these include an organised walk in Greenfield Heritage Valley, a talk on Cyber Crime by the North Wales Police, a trip to see a live streaming of Phantom of the Opera, and a Games/members evening. Upcoming events include a Ribbon Wreath workshop, a visit to the Christmas Cracker concert in Chester Cathedral and a Coffee and Mince pie morning, as well as their December Christmas meeting where they will be crafting Christmas decorations and if time permits having some fun and games! They can be contacted through the Facebook page and Website but if you would like an informal chat please contact Eliz on 07721 690956. Want to write a piece for our next issue? A Final Word A message from the LCS Chair

As we move forward into yet another new year it is important to recognise what has been achieved through the continual group of volunteers who strive to maintain a very privileged environment for us all to live in. Reflecting on that and the hopes of a more convivial meeting place (The Red Lion!), it is hoped that a renewed community spirit is generated to help create new initiatives whilst still maintaining the high standards that are presently in place. Here's hoping one and all have a pleasant and relaxing festive period and we, as the Conservation Society, look forward to continued support throughout 2025. Mike Walker - Llanasa Conservation Society Chair Thank you for reading!
