CHRISSY PETERSON

CITIZEN OF THE YEAR ‘21 The Gr. Hudson Chamber is excited to present the Citizen of the Year Award for 2021 to Chrissy Peterson. Chrissy is a Hudson resident and a positive force in our community is being honored for her leadership, generosity, and dedication to community. Many know Chrissy as the Director of the Town of Hudson Recreation Department, but everyone knows her for her endless positivity and giving spirit for all she does in our community. Chrissy first became involved with the Recreation Department In 2012, when they were looking for a volunteer to create a free website and volunteer to run their new lacrosse program. The administrative aide position opened later that year for which she was hired rapidly became invaluable, taking on more responsibilities and roles going above and beyond. Chrissy created new events such as Halloween Parade in the Park, Mother-Son Game Night, themed Father-Daughter Dances, and an Annual Scholarship program. In the mist of the pandemic, Chrissy was promoted to Director of the Recreation Department for Hudson. It was her out of the box thinking which resulted in the development of a Virtual Recreation Page, providing safe activities and ideas for the members of the community to ease the burden of quarantine. Chrissy was instrumental in organizing the Easter Bunny Drive-by, the Santa Sleigh Ride Drive-by and the We Drive to You Food Drive. She has worked hard to bring a sense of newness and community to Hudson by adding fresh ideas like the Easter Bunny Bash, Woodshop events, Canvas Painting community events, Toddler Soccer Program, Tennis Programs for youth and adults, outdoor Laser Show, Senior Citizen Thai-Chi, Senior Citizen Care Package Program, Girls Lacrosse Clinic, High School Flag Football, The REC CONNECT Newsletter, and more. To her it’s a calling not just a career. In addition, Chrissy volunteers for numerous groups in town. She volunteered as the Head Coach for the Hudson Litchfield Bears cheerleading program for eight years; served on the Hudson Litchfield Bears Board as their Vice President; serves on the Friends of Alvirne Lacrosse; contributes to numerous PTOs in town; donates her time to the Hudson Food Pantry; coached Fiddlesticks, and volunteered to help with the Telethon for the Food Pantry. Chrissy is a firm believer in working with the community, community organizations, and local businesses. She have teamed up to assist many groups in town including the Alvirne Boosters Club to jointly host a Shoe Drive, Rosita Lee Music Center to award music scholarships to Recreation participants, Enterprise Bank to jointly host a presentation on Elderly Financial Exploitation, Food Drive for the Hudson Food Pantry, Clothing Drive for Catie’s Closet, collaborated with DCU, joined forces and hosted the Community Fright Ride with CHIPS, and recently put together a fundraising comedy night and calendar that raises money for scholarships. It is more of what Chrissy gives to our community that is worth recognizing, it is her heart, her positivity, and her unwavering community spirt she shares every day. She inspires people of all ages to get involved in their community, to be the change and do better for our community. Chrissy is married to Tim Peterson for almost 19 years and together they have three amazing children, Connor, Riley and Emma. 7
