WHAT IS ROTARACT?

Youth always plays a big role in making this world a better place to live in. They can utilize their energy in incredible ways that can help in bringing a change and create a better tomorrow. Rotaract is a youth run Rotary International sponsored organization which runs at a club level. They conduct events, camps and donation drives to give back to the society. Rotaract clubs hold formal meetings, usually every two weeks, which feature speakers, special outings, social activities, discussions or visits to other clubs. Club members get together on designated days for service project work, social events or professional/leadership development workshops. Rotaract originally began as Rotary International youth program in 1968 at Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States and has grown into a major Rotary sponsored organizations of over 10,904 clubs spread around the world and 250,792 members in 184 countries. It is a leadership, professional and community service organization for young men and women above the age of 18 years. Rotaract PDEU was established on 4th December 2013. The club has evolved in an exceptional manner throughout the years. It has activities promoting not only social causes and community needs but also professional development and leadership skills among the people. Some of the events which have been craved on hearts of people are PDEU haat - a flea market, Unn Dino ki baatein A Valentine’s Day celebration at old age home, blood donation camps and many other. From a small team to a big team we have come a long way where Rotaractors have been ever ready to serve. The Rotaract Club of PDEU organizes various drives such as Blood Donation Drive, Cleanliness Drive and Paper drive, etc. Moreover, there are different projects such as Being Santa, Unn Dinon ki Baatein where members visit Old Age Homes and Heritage Hunt, an event which focuses to make people aware and help preserve the World Heritage Sites across the world and many such outstanding events.

NOTE FROM CORE

It’s been 3 years in the club and it seems like forever! Since the beginning,

I have always wished to contribute to the main motive of this organization which is “fellowship through service”. I always believe that Rotaract PDEU is not just a club, it is an emotion. Rotaract PDEU conducts various events for the welfare of the society throughout the year through which a person learns ample of things like administration, communication skills, public speaking, management, decision making, and many such things which can’t be quantified with the help of numbers. This year (2020-21) has been a roller-coaster ride as we all are not on campus due to covid-19 and we have to conduct all the events through an online medium. As a Secretary, I had a wonderful opportunity to explore my role and the club better. The work was challenging during the pandemic but today it gives me so much pleasure to share that we conquered the challenges and were able to hold the motto of the club. All RTR. PRINCE THAKKAR this was possible due to a great dedication by the entire team! I am thankful to all the people that I have met through Rotaract PDEU including all my fellow core members, Board members, and especially my seniors who have always given me that opportunity to grow myself as a better person. Through this newsletter, with our entire year journey, I would urge you all to take a step up and never miss an opportunity to give back to society. To the team, to all the future core members, board members, members and volunteers always remember whichever post you are working ,you have that opportunity to make a change at a micro-level and work for the betterment of society and the club. Everything that you do, even if it is a small thing, the intentions should be right and the results will take care of itself. KEEP IGNITING THE SPARK!! KEEP ROTARACTING! RTR. PRIYAL BHANDARI Rotary has always been in my family, I fully immersed myself into Rotaract after witnessing RYLA and being in the interact club in my school and haven’t looked back since, and when I came to college, I got an opportunity to be a part of this wonderful club called Rotaract club PDEU. During the first year I was just another volunteer in the college though, I was very active attending almost all events, meetings. And the next year I was the publicity head. The whole year was a roller coaster for me. Trying to settle down in college and handling this very important post was a task. Nevertheless, I enjoyed every bit of it. I started knowing people, made a lot of new friends and learnt a lot. Then during the year, I got another responsibility of handling the community service avenue, which I was always so much into. Two posts in a year, handling lots of events, giving tons of new ideas, it was a great year. Vice president 2020-21, it was a tough job to be at such an important position of the club and manage everything because it was online, and this pandemic made things more difficult. We planned it well, and yes, we had a great team which made this year successful. I was the girl who was terrified of public speaking — or even putting forward her opinions in a meeting but Rotaract helped me overcome my fears. It is amazing how fear slips away when you are in a comfortable, supportive environment, surrounded by people who share your passion. A message to all the upcoming volunteers, members, board members, core members, it is a wonderful opportunity, you will learn so much during the whole process. Life gives you chances to create a meaning. Out of the same paper, we can make a book, a ticket, a boat, or an aircraft. Our destiny is not what we get, but what we make out of what we already have. Let us make it more meaningful by doing good for the people around us. The journey is beautiful, there is always going to be growth, improvement, adversity, you just need to take it all in. KEEP ROTARACTING! AND DON’T FORGET TO SPREAD SMILES.

It’s been 3 years in the club and it seems like forever! Since the beginning,

I joined Rotaract in my first year and hardly knew any person. Gradually, I

got to know people in meetings and events and by the end of my first year, I made some amazing friends! The club has taught me a lot as with each event I learnt something new and worked on different types of things. This year, as a treasurer, I got to learn and experience a lot. Since we were functioning online, there were a lot of restrictions. The year had its own set of challenges as at the start of the year there was no clarity on how we would carry forward and whether we would be able to be back on campus! We still hope we’ll be back soon. ;) To all the club members, “Grab all the opportunities as the club gives you a platform to meet so many new people, new things to experience and a lot of memories to cherish!” Trust me, you will learn a lot and make some amazing memories. Keep Rotaracting! RTR. STUTI NAIR RTR. ZEEL BHATT As a volunteer, Rotaract was all about making friends, having fun and exploring the essence of events. As the Documentation Head, I not only learnt a great deal about how powerful words can be, but it opened many doors for me. At the risk of sounding cliché, I evolved as an individual because of Rotaract. I always had an inclination towards communication, but after joining Rotaract, I had a stage to present that. Moreover, I had the best cheerleaders. Rotaractors; seniors, juniors and batch mates alike, with their constant support and encouragement, pushed me to get better, to grow out of my comfort zone. It's the genuine appreciation and belief, which makes you go the extra mile. And I've had the privilege of 3 Rotaract Presidents believing in me. Just imagine. Finally as the COO, during this crazy 2020, Rotaract kept me going. Be it the Google meets or amazing events, it was filled with learning and fun. At Rotaract, you trust the people you work with, you trust their work, commitment and above all, you trust their cause. And this trust alone, brought not 1, but 2 massive opportunities my way, for which I'd be forever grateful. It's not as much about building the connections, as it is about sharing friendships, sharing trust. You might not realize it while living these moments, but when you look back and reflect, you know how far you've come and how you've bloomed. Rotaract always remains a part of who you are. It all began in the fresher's year, when I joined rotaract as a mere volunteer thinking it's all about social service. It was a great journey in the club, learning umpteen skills and meeting new folks from different walks of life. My interest in graphic designing soared sky high and I was also nominated as District Graphics Chairperson. The leap from club level to District level was pretty amazing. Rotaract, in all, made me worldly wise and shrewd :) A word of advice to new Rotaractors, KEEP ROTARACTING! RTR. RAJ BHAVSAR

People, Remarkable Team and Extraordinary leadership. To serve, plan and perform on a virtual platform and execute 35 events is not something we see on a regular basis. This was unusually extraordinary! Best Rotaract Performing Year Till Now. Period As I graduate, I feel lucky to be a part of such a club all four years of my college, because not only it helped me grow professionally but personally as well. Also giving me the best kind of tribe, because I always believe- It's not about any roles, positions in the club or the even the club, it's always about the people and the community we build we choose and we nurture. I am extremely happy and proud to witness the growth of Rotaract PDEU. Will be forever grateful! P P R T R . J AY N I T H A K K A R It has been an absolute honour for me to serve at Rotaract Club PDEU for 4 th enthusiasm and excitement ready to grab every single opportunity and to give my best. In a year I was a board member serving as the Community Service Director and got an opportunity to lead a few projects and events. I then went on to become the President of the club and got this huge opportunity to lead this club. This experience taught me a million things. It gave me an opportunity to make an impact in the society and across all kinds of domains but simultaneously also helped me become a better individual. Team 2020-21 has done a wonderful job in spite of being in these challenging times. Rotaractors worked virtually and made the best out of the available resources and opportunities. It was also amazing to see members working extensively in spite of not being able to meet in person. Every event and project done was so perfectly planned and executed. It is my pleasure that I served as the advisor of the club in the tenure. I congratulate and wish best to the upcoming team. I IPP R T R . R A H I L J A N I

It's been 4 years but it feels like Rotaract has always been a part of my life. I began as member , I remember how I gave my interview to Rutva , it was much of discussion , and then I was in, and since then and yet I have always continued to grow professionally and personally, learnt to overcome my fears, put on my foot to take leadership, help my fellow rotaractors to implement their ideas and the list goes on. Every time I came to club meetings it was something new to learn and take back with myself. I was always excited for events and more when we all gathered to discuss how we should go about it. Brainstorming was always fun, I came out of my own comfort zone, I spoke to people, I made some great friends for life . When I got the post of treasurer I was more than delighted as well nervous to hold up a position in the core , it was a new role , a new side of me to explore , As in the last year of mine being the club trainer it was a joy to see the new members take their new roles , set new bars ,create magic, and amid this pandemic all of you have done a commendable job. Now when I look back to the wonderful 4 years of college I have lived, I couldn't have imagined it to go by beautifully without Rotaract club along with the members , the volunteers and everyone who was a part of Rotaract. This is my family and I will always like to call it so. It is so heartfelt that my 4 years have ended but I take back memories and learnings. I will always want to be a part of Rotaract for the rest of my life. My future leaders and by future leaders I call all and everyone who is a part of Rotaract or will be with utmost dedication, hard work, emotions and the willingness to make a change for oneself and the world , you are surely gonna achieve success. You are surely going to make a change , be an inspiration , touch lives, win hearts ,create a better world for the rest. I personally believe once you are part of Rotaract there is no looking back, you are always learning and somewhere always teaching too. All the best to all of you .
