Deep in the countryside, Ananse guarded a secret.

Behind his little hut was a magnificent yam field. 

But these were no ordinary yams.

They were magic yams.

Only Ananse could pull them from the earth.

One afternoon, Hyena wandered through the

countryside. 

His stomach growled. Then he smelled something

wonderful. “Yams!” 

He followed the smell until he discovered Ananse's

field. 

His eyes grew wide. There were enough yams to

feed him for weeks.
