Considering the seriousness of the incident, instructions have been given to officials to conduct a thorough investigation. We will work towards preventing such incidents and raising awareness. Facilities like digital locks are a necessity, but along with them, vigilance and caution are equally important,” CM Yadav wrote in a post on X.Speaking to reporters, Yadav said he was saddened by the deaths and that senior officials had been dispatched to the site to investigate.”We received information about the Indore fire incident this morning and I am saddened that eight people died in the incident. We have sent officials from here and they will investigate the entire matter. We stand by the grieving family. Our senior officials have been sent to the incident site, and our ministers Kailash Vijayvargiya and Tulsi Silawat, along with other public representatives, are present at the spot,” CM Mohan Yadav told reporters. He further appealed to the public to observe necessary precautions while using facilities such as digital locks and EV charging points. “I also urge the public to use digital locks and electronic doors with due caution. Along with this, remain vigilant and cautious while using EV chargers. I hope people will observe more precautions after this incident and the government will also work in this direction,” the CM added. Eight people died after a fire broke out at a three-storey house in the Brijeshwari Annexe residential locality in Indore district at around 4 AM on Wednesday, spreading rapidly through the structure. Commissioner of Police (Indore) Santosh Kumar Singh informed about the chain of events that led to the incident. He said that it started from an EV charging point exploding while charging an electric vehicle, which was followed by explosions of “some” LGP cylinders.” As per initial investigations, an electric vehicle was being charged outside the house, and the charging point exploded. After that, the fire then spread to the house from the car. We found that there were electronic locks in the building, so it seems that after the explosion, power cuts may occur and doors may be locked. It was a three-storey building, and more than 10 gas cylinders were also stored inside the house, some of which exploded. We also witnessed cylinder explosions between the time period of 4 am and 4:30 am,” the police commissioner said. He added that the fire tender team also checked the nearby houses and buildings as a precaution because too much heat was generated at the time of the blaze. FRIDAY, MARCH 20, 2026 Harish Rana Euthanasia case: Ex-AIIMS Head advocates dignified end with support without causing direct harm By Shalini Bhardwaj | New Delhi [India], March 17 (ANI): Former Head of the Department of Onco-Anaesthesia, Pain and Palliative Care at AIIMS Delhi, Doctor Sushma Bhatnagar, who earlier handled the case of Harish Rana, stressed the importance of providing a dignified end without causing direct harm or discomfort, following the Supreme Court‘s approval of passive euthanasia. In a landmark first, the Supreme Court last week permitted passive euthanasia for a 31-year-old Harish Rana from Ghaziabad who has been in a persistent vegetative state for over a decade, observing that continuing life-sustaining treatment would no longer be in the patient’s best interest.Speaking about the landmark case, Dr Bhatnagar said, “Now, in this case, it’s an advanced stage where it seems the end is inevitable, meaning the end will come. So, if a situation arises where the end is inevitable, like the one this child faces, we should support him until the end in a way that ensures he continues to receive support. Now, after providing support to him for 13 years, the Government of India has guidelines for withholding and withdrawal. These should be followed. Now we know that if we have to do withholding and withdrawal in this, then we will have to do it in a balanced manner. So that we should not feel that we have done something like deliberate killing.” She highlighted the crucial role of palliative care in such cases, noting that all hospitals should have dedicated departments to handle endof-life situations.”If every hospital in India had a good palliative care department and center, such situations might be avoided. This situation arises when people don’t know how to handle a patient whose end is inevitable. A good palliative care department would automatically handle it,” she said.Dr Bhatnagar also underlined the importance of constant communication with families during these difficult times.” The moment is not easy for the family. Until the doctor maintains constant communication with them, they won’t be at ease. If we take Harish’s case, there are many such cases. The court hearing becomes crucial,” she added. On following protocols, she explained, “The Government of India’s guidelines on withholding and withdrawing treatment should be followed in such cases. A specific protocol should be followed, involving a team of doctors and clear communication with the family. Counselling the family is essential to help them understand the situation and make informed decisions.” When asked about the time frame for such interventions, Dr Bhatnagar said, “It’s indeed difficult to predict, and it’s best left to the medical team to decide. The important thing is to follow the guidelines and provide comfort and support to the patient and their family.”She further added, “The Government of India’s verdict should be honoured, and we should do our best to provide a dignified end without harming him directly or causing discomfort. We should try to give him a dignified end as soon as possible.” On March 11, in a landmark first, the Supreme Court of India permitted passive euthanasia for a 31-year-old man from Ghaziabad who has been in a persistent vegetative state for over a decade, observing that continuing life-sustaining treatment would no longer be in the patient’s best interest.A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and KV Vishwanathan allowed the withdrawal of clinically assisted nutrition and hydration (CANH) for Harish Rana, who has remained in a vegetative state since suffering an accidental fall from a building in 2013. Passive euthanasia refers to the withdrawal or withholding of life-sustaining treatment to allow a patient with no reasonable prospect of recovery to die naturally. (ANI)

(ANI) Power sector remains structurally strong despite concerns on slowing demand and oversupply: Report New Delhi [India], March 17 (ANI): Concerns surrounding slowing power demand and potential oversupply in the sector are largely misplaced, with underlying structural trends continuing to support longterm growth, according to a report by Anand Rathi Institutional Equities. The report stated that headline concerns fail to capture the broader changes underway in the power ecosystem. It noted that while “power demand plateaued at around 5 per cent p.a.,” actual consumption trends remain strong, driven by rising peak demand and rapid growth in non-grid segments.” Peak demand and non-grid consumption are rising faster,” the report said, highlighting the expansion of captive power, data centres and rooftop dismissed fears of oversupply in solar PV modules, stating that “module demand exceeds headline additions,” implying a “~110GW annual nameplate requirement.” It pointed to supply-side constraints such as “cell/ wafer bottlenecks and technology shifts” that limit effective supply and are likely to drive consolidation rather than oversupply.Despite concerns over valuations and solar. It added that peak demand is projected to reach “around 458GW by 2032, a 9 per cent CAGR sustaining capacity addition requirements.”On the supply side, the report clarified that thermal power, which currently accounts for “76 per cent generation,” will continue to play a key role in ensuring grid reliability in the near term. However, the future growth trajectory will be led by renewable energy, with “~377GW between FY26-32 versus only ~38GW of thermal,” indicating that incremental capacity addition will be largely driven by clean energy sources.Addressing infrastructure concerns, the report noted that evacuation challenges persist but are being actively addressed.” Transmission capacity is expanding rapidly,” it said, with substation capacity expected to rise from “1,338k MVA (FY25) to 2,412k MVA (FY32)” and transmission lines from “494k ckm to 648k ckm,” supported by reforms to improve coordination. The report also comparisons with the telecom sector cycle, the report maintained that strong demand fundamentals and regulatory support would limit long-term value destruction, even if consolidation occurs within the renewable energy space. It outlined “while renewables may see consolidation similar to telecom, structural demand and regulatory support limit value destruction”. You get up during odd hours to check your water supply. Then you sprint across the hallway to switch on the motor and have to stay awake until you hear the alarm confirming that your water tank is full. That’s not all, to check how much water is left in the tank, you have to act like Spider-Man to reach the tank, open the lid, and get an idea. Sounds familiar, right? This whole process is manual, messy, and prone to error.Let me give you another scenario: you have elders living far from you who are getting hassled every day just to fill water. What if I told you there is an ultimate solution that solves all of this? No more worries about switching the motor on and off, and you will know exactly what the water level is in your tank. This is where Flosenso comes into play. I installed the Flosenso Pro (INR 10,499), which aims to turn this chore into ‘setand-forget’ automation. After closely monitoring it for several months, here is how this IoT-based water controller stacks up.The Non-Invasive and Rugged Hardware:Unlike traditional controllers that rely on physical float switches, which often corrode or get stuck due to hard water, the Flosenso Pro uses ultrasonic sensor technology. It’s quite precise, measuring water levels up to 14 feet with non-contact sensing. All of this is done wirelessly; it uses LoRaWAN to communicate between the tank and the controller, boasting a range of up to 1 km. I think it’s a game-changer for gated communities or bungalows where the tank is several floors away from the pump. More Than Just an On/Off Switch:The ‘Pro’ moniker comes alive in the app ecosystem. The Pro version of Flosenso offers:* Remote Global Control: You can trigger your pump from your office or while on vacation via the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi link.* Smart Scheduling: If your water supply follows a strict timetable, you can sync the motor to those specific hours.* Dry Run Protection: This is perhaps the most critical feature. The system detects when the pump is running without water, automatically shutting it off to prevent expensive motor burnouts. Designed for the Indian Context:I think Flosenso clearly understands local ‘water realities’. The Pro version is compatible with the Pulse add-on (which detects municipal supply pressure) and the Navi add-on for heavy-duty 3-phase industrial pumps. Even if your Wi-Fi goes down, the unit’s Offline Mode ensures the automation continues. Your app might not ping you, but your tank won’t overflow and your motor won’t burn out. In case you want to run your motor without automation, you can simply use the app to operate it manually. Good job, Flosenso! In The End:I was skeptical, but at INR 10,499, the Flosenso Pro turned out to be the right investment for home automation. I did face some issues with incorrect water-level measurements and the motor not switching on as per the schedule, but those were minor hiccups fixed instantly. This is where their customer service scored a 10 on 10. They fixed it in a jiffy and I have had no problems to date. Furthermore, when I factor in the saved electricity, the prevention of water wastage, and the extended life of the water motor, the ROI is evident. So, yes, there’s no doubt in my mind that this is a solution to all your water problems once and for all. (ANI) Boston [US], March 16 (ANI): Eleven Indian nationals have been indicted in the United States for their alleged involvement in a fraudulent conspiracy to orchestrate staged armed robberies aimed at helping individuals secure illegitimate immigration status. The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts announced the charges on Friday. According to prosecutors, the defendants “participated in staged armed robberies of convenience stores for the purpose of allowing store clerks to falsely claim they were crime victims on immigration applications.” The illicit operation reportedly began around March 2023. Federal investigators allege that Rambhai Patel and his associates coordinated fake robberies at various convenience stores, liquor outlets, and fast-food establishments across Massachusetts. The primary objective of these staged crimes was to strengthen applications for a U visa. This specific immigration benefit is reserved for victims of certain crimes who have suffered mental or physical abuse and who assist law enforcement in subsequent investigations. According to court filings, the staged incidents involved an individual acting as a robber who threatened staff with what appeared to be a firearm. After seizing cash from the register and fleeing, the clerks or owners reportedly waited at least five minutes, allowing the perpetrator to escape before contacting police to report the incident. Prosecutors further alleged that those portrayed as victims paid an organizer to be included in the scheme. “The ‘victims’ are alleged to have each paid Patel to participate in the scheme,” the documents stated. In turn, the organizer is accused of paying business owners for the use of their premises. Authorities confirmed that the organizer, the primary robber, and the getaway driver have already faced charges and convictions. The current group of eleven defendants is accused of either coordinating with the organizer or paying to take part in the scheme for themselves or their relatives. Following the announcement, six of the accused were apprehended in Massachusetts and appeared in a Boston federal court on Friday. The remaining defendants were arrested in Kentucky, Missouri, and Ohio and are expected to be transferred to Boston for further proceedings. The charge of conspiracy to commit visa fraud carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Additionally, those convicted could face a fine of up to USD 250,000.
