Colorado Springs enjoys a unique climate shaped by its location at the base of the Rocky Mountains and its elevation between 6,200 - 7,800 feet. Overall, the city experiences four distinct seasons with low humidity, abundant sunshine, and relatively mild temperatures year-round. Overall, summers are warm and dry, with cool and cloudy evenings. Winters bring occasional snow that melts quickly from the strong sunshine. Spring and fall are transitional and can be unpredictable, with fast-changing conditions, sudden temperature swings, and the occasional surprise snowstorm or thunderstorm. The mountains influence local weather patterns, creating dramatic shifts from sun to snow in a single day and offer cooler temperatures compared to lower elevations. If you love sunshine, don’t mind variety, and appreciate a dry, high-altitude climate, Colorado Springs delivers a little bit of everything without the extremes. 5

Fall is generally dry with clear blue skies, especially moving into October/November. Occasional early snowfalls can arrive by late October. You’ll want to dress in layers, as mornings and evenings can be chilly while afternoons remain warm and sunny.
