The Problem and Green Solution:
Various states and countries are facing environmental challenges due to coal mines, coal-fired power plants, and coal refuse waste streams. Over 16 billion tons of toxic coal tailings have accumulated in North America, posing disposal challenges. The existing coal mines and power plants require environmental remediation to meet EPA standards, which are costly. However, the waste materials from these sites can be reclaimed for beneficial reuse.
