An arrest warrant was served to TDP Chief in connection to an alleged corruption case in the early hours of Saturday. High drama was witnessed at Nandyal as a team of police officials reached the area to take the TDP leader in custody in the early hours of Saturday. As per the party, the police will take Chandrababu to Vijayawada by flight from Orvakal Airport. However, Chandrababu strongly objected to the arrest as it was initiated without showing ‘evidence for allegations’. Chandrababu said that he would cooperate with the law only if evidence is presented. Before arresting Naidu, the CID took him for a medical checkup where high blood pressure and diabetes were detected, the counsel for Naidu said. “We are approaching the High Court for bail,” he added. Meanwhile, a minor scuffle also took place between TDP workers and police personnel. The State Police detained TDP leader and party chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh in East Godavari district as a preventive action to maintain the law and order situation in the state. TDP leaders criticized the police for the late-night action against the senior leader. Reportedly, some of the party workers were detained by the police. INDIA THIS WEEK Analyzing New Delhi Declaration: Insights from G20 Summit September 15, 2023 New Delhi [India], September 12 (ANI): The G20 summit reached a successful conclusion in Delhi on September 10, featuring numerous prominent global leaders who also engaged in a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines. The summit led to the consolidation of a comprehensive framework with the objective of fostering enhanced collaboration among the G20 member nations, the European Union, and the recently incorporated African Union. India faced several challenges at the beginning of its G20 Presidency last December. The global economic landscape was marred by turbulence, which was aggravated by the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ukraine conflict and the resultant sanctions against Russia further complicated matters, effectively dividing the G20 into opposing factions, Maheep, a leading expert on India’s Foreign Policy, wrote. Maheep is also the Principal Investigator of a National Project on India’s Soft Power Diplomacy. Crafting a unified joint statement became a herculean task, even in the previous year. India’s Presidency also unfolded against the backdrop of ongoing bilateral tensions with China, primarily around territorial disputes. This perennial friction introduced an additional layer of complexity for India’s G-20 Sherpa team, as China frequently acted as a disruptive force during numerous meetings. M o r e o v e r, the Indian government deviated from tradition by scheduling the G20 summit two months earlier than the customary November timeframe. Officials had two months less to work towards the Joint Communique. New Delhi clearly faced a formidable obstacle in its efforts to reach a consensus towards the preparation of a Joint Communique highlighting critical issues including climate finance, healthcare investment, and poverty alleviation. Friday As the curtains fell on the G20 Summit, Amitabh Kant, the Sherpa for the Indian presidency, was both exhausted and happy, having accomplished what had seemed elusive until even a week ago: securing a consensus. The focal issue of contention revolved around the Ukraine-Russia conflict, a subject which was finally addressed comprehensively in seven paragraphs. This level of detail starkly contrasts with the Bali Declaration last year, which dedicated only two paragraphs to the topic. Following the circulation of a new text by India at the last moment describing the Ukraine conflict, a Consensus was finally reached and the Declaration was subsequently adopted. Moreover, the significance of the moment cannot be overestimated. It marks a remarkable achievement as, for the first time in the history of the G20, the declaration has garnered unanimous consensus across all areas, including developments, climate concerns, and geopolitical matters. The declaration highlighted India’s exceptional ability to act as a crucial bridge between emerging economies, developed nations, Russia, and China, effectively bringing them all to the negotiation table, Maheep wrote. Moreover, this event is truly unique in that it places multilateralism at the forefront once again, underscoring its importance in global diplomacy. Finally, it serves as a compelling demonstration that even in the face of numerous global challenges, ambitious, inclusive, and decisive actions can be undertaken successfully. It marks a remarkable accomplishment not only for India but also a significant milestone for all emerging markets. This Delhi Declaration embodies the voice of the Global South, articulated from the vantage point of this diverse and dynamic region. The declaration expressed great concern over the immense human suffering caused by global conflicts and wars. The consensus declaration, embraced by G20 leaders, emphasized the necessity for a comprehensive, equitable, and lasting peace in Ukraine. It called upon the member states to abstain from employing threats of force to pursue territorial gains or to infringe upon the territorial integrity of any sovereign nation. The statement clearly noted that all states must refrain from using force to conquer sovereign territories. Furthermore, the 37-page long declaration is divided into 10 thematic chapters. The first chapter, called Strong, Sustainable, Balanced, and Inclusive Growth, addressed the global economic situation, the promotion of financial inclusion, and how to combat corruption. It refers to the resolve to implement the action plan targeting Fugitive Economic Offenders, thereby bolstering global collaboration and enhancing the exchange of information among law enforcement entities in the fight against corruption. The next chapter called accelerating progress on SDGs, focuses on eradicating hunger and malnutrition, fostering health partnerships, and ensuring the provision of quality education. It considers the potential economic impact of future pandemics, revealing deficiencies in the current pandemic response infrastructure, encompassing institutional and financial aspects. R e g a r d i n g education, the discussion revolved around strengthening teachers’ capabilities, refining curricula, promoting local language content, and ensuring access to digital resources. These measures aimed to guarantee that every child, especially those most marginalized, receives the fundamental foundations necessary for lifelong learning. The Chapter on the “Green Development Pact for a Sustainable Future” underscored the imperative of enacting clean, sustainable, equitable, economical, and all-encompassing energy transformations. An essential component highlighted within this context is the imperative to construct dependable, varied, accountable, and durable supply chains for essential minerals, semiconductors, and associated technologies. Moreover, the chapter on Revamping Multilateral Institutions in the 21st Century delves into the need for restructuring international financial bodies. A pivotal development within this realm was the historic accord reached within the G20 to initiate reforms to the United Nations Security Council. Furthermore, there was a concerted effort to enhance and enlarge Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) for greater efficacy. The chapter entitled Technological Transformation & the Establishment of Digital Public Infrastructure covered various aspects of constructing digital public infrastructure, the utilization of crypto-assets, and the responsible deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the common good. G20 leaders unified their stance by endorsing a G20 framework aimed at digital public infrastructure and the establishment of the Global Digital Public Infrastructure Repository (GDPIR). The Leaders’ Declaration also addressed a comprehensive strategy focused on enhancing cyber education and awareness, with a special emphasis on safeguarding and empowering children and youth. This is particularly crucial in view of the expanding digital presence of young individuals and the escalation of associated risks. Meanwhile, in the chapter on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, there is a strong emphasis on endorsing equal rights to economic resources, property ownership, financial services, and inheritance for women. Simultaneously, there is a commitment to support women’s organizations and networks, along with the goal of narrowing gender disparities in agricultural access. Under India’s leadership during its G20 Presidency, a significant decision has been made to establish an additional comprehensive working group dedicated to advancing women’s empowerment. The group’s primary focus will be on promoting gender equality, empowering women, and nurturing leadership while fostering collaboration across various sectors and levels. In the chapter on Countering Terrorism and Combating Money Laundering, a resolute condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations was expressed. Additionally, it conveyed a positive message affirming the importance of international peace and security. The final chapter called Creating a More Inclusive World, covered two crucial components. Firstly, India’s leadership during its G20 Presidency has laid the groundwork for the African Union to attain permanent membership within the G20, thereby enhancing inclusivity within the G20, fostering deeper collaboration with Africa, and facilitating the realization of its developmental aspirations. Secondly, it underlined a steadfast dedication to fostering reverence for religious and cultural diversity while condemning any manifestations of religious animosity, including those directed at sacred symbols and scriptures. Officials underscored several overarching lessons derived from this Summit: a resolute commitment for forthcoming Presidencies, notably in the upcoming cycle commencing with Brazil in 2024, followed by South Africa in 2025, and culminating with the United States in 2026. Recognition was extended to all engagement groups and initiatives associated with India’s G20 Presidency. The recommendations put forth by Engagement Groups, including B20, S20, SAI20, Startup20, T20, U20, W20, Y20, C20, P20, and L20, as well as the various Initiatives such as EMPOWER, Research Initiative, SELM, CSAR, and the G20 Cybersecurity Conference, were warmly embraced. Furthermore, conducting more than 200 meetings in 60 cities across India has not only set a new standard but also promoted the concept of bringing G20 to the people. The democratization of diplomacy emerged as a prominent and valuable outcome of this successful endeavour. The G20 Delhi Declaration signified a watershed moment in contemporary global diplomacy. India’s adroit leadership, exercised amid a challenging international backdrop, has yielded a remarkable consensus. This historic achievement demonstrated India’s acumen in bridging divides and facilitating unity among nations. The unanimous declaration highlighted India’s resolute commitment to working together on important issues like climate action and socioeconomic development, showcasing its ability to bring together emerging economies, developed countries, and major global powers such as Russia and China. Furthermore, the Delhi Declaration reflected India’s dedication to inclusivity, peace, and gender equality. It advocates reforms in international financial institutions and emphasizes responsible technological transformation for the common good. India’s vision extends to deeper collaboration with the African Union, enhancing the G20’s inclusivity. As the leadership mantle passes to future presidencies, India’s legacy stands as a paradigmatic example of diplomacy’s potential to shape a more equitable and sustainable global order, reaffirming its pivotal role on the international stage.

US welcomes India’s nod to lower tariffs on several American agri products Washington, DC [US], September 12 (ANI): The United States has welcomed India’s consent to reduce tariffs on several American agricultural products. US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack in a statement said that the US welcomes the news that “India has agreed to reduce tariffs on its imports of US turkey, duck, cranberries and blueberries” and noted that it will create new market opportunities for American producers and exporters in New Delhi. V i l s a c k ’ s statement comes after United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai announced last week that the two nations have agreed to resolve their last outstanding dispute at the World Trade Organization (WTO) and lower tariffs on certain US agricultural products, including a frozen turkey, frozen duck, fresh blueberries and cranberries, frozen blueberries and cranberries, dried blueberries and cranberries, and processed blueberries and cranberries. The announcement came as US President Joe Biden met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8 in New Delhi ahead of the G20 Leaders’ Summit. The joint statement released by India and the US after the meeting between the two leaders said, “The leaders lauded the settlement of the seventh and last outstanding World Trade Organisation (WTO) dispute between India and the United States.” Notably, the six disputes in WTO were resolved during PM Narendra Modi‘s State visit to the US in June. Vilsack said, “Under the Biden-Harris Administration, USDA and USTR have focused on rebuilding trust and strengthening relationships with our global trading partners, including India, and working through the World Trade Organization and other venues to ensure that those partners live up to their obligations so that US agriculture has full and fair access to key export markets,” according to US Trade Representative Office’s press release. Congressman Rick Larsen called India’s move to reduce tariffs on frozen blueberries “good news” for Washington state. Larsen thanked Katherine Tai for their continued work to ensure that Washington blueberry farmers can “compete on level terms with other blueberry exporting countries and feed the world,” according to the US Trade Representative Office’s press release. US Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine said, “Today, we’re proud to report that USTR has finally come to an agreement with India to reduce these retaliatory tariffs. This move will help strengthen the strong partnership between our two nations while generating increased demand for Virginia poultry and supporting economic activity in the Valley.” US Senator Amy Klobuchar said, “For too long, high tariffs have prevented American turkey farmers from exporting their products to India...I’m glad to see this agreement has been reached.” National Turkey Federation lauded the efforts of the Indian and US governments to reduce the tariffs. In a statement, it said, “The National Turkey Federation applauds the efforts by the U.S. and Indian governments to significantly reduce the tariffs. This move creates an important new market for U.S. turkey producers and will give Indians more affordable access to a nutritious, delicious protein.” (ANI) New Delhi [India], September 11 (ANI): A 32-year-old woman died after being stabbed by her husband multiple times in Delhi’s Maujpur area, police said. In an analysis of the New Delhi Declaration, Kirton emphasized that the G-20, representing the world’s major economies, has taken on a pivotal role in shaping global governance. The declaration’s breadth of coverage, spanning a wide spectrum of global issues, demonstrates the G20‘s growing influence and capacity to address multifaceted challenges. John Kirton said, “I think it is a significant step forward in global governance. It shows that the G 20 is now at the centre of global governance and put across a broader spectrum of issues than ever before and above all it can do that without the leaders of both Russia and China”. One of the most notable aspects of the New Delhi summit was the absence of leaders from Russia and China, a development that has prompted discussions about the evolving dynamics of global leadership. Remember: According to Kirton, this absence did not detract from the G20‘s effectiveness; instead, it showcased the organization’s adaptability and its ability to operate without key players traditionally seen as central to global leadership. Furthermore, Kirton underscored the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, asserting that he emerged as a prominent figure at the summit. He suggested that this signals a shift in leadership dynamics, highlighting Prime Minister Modi as a leader of the “global south,” a distinction that sets him apart from established powers like China and Russia. “Prime Minister Modi emerged as the leader of this summit and I think it is showing that he is really the leader of the global south, rather than those older countries that long claimed that mantle”, said Kirton. The New Delhi summit’s significance extends beyond its outcomes, serving as a testament to the G20‘s capacity to shape the global agenda and address pressing issues. The declaration’s comprehensive scope and India’s prominent role have solidified the G20‘s central position in contemporary global governance. As the world continues to grapple with complex challenges ranging from climate change to economic recovery, the G20‘s influence and ability to foster cooperation among diverse nations becomes increasingly vital. “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. ” JESUS CHRIST

This initiative is being implemented in line with the motto of “taking everyone together and leaving no one behind.” He further added “With the Ayushman Bhav initiative, India is going to write a new chapter in making healthcare affordable and accessible. Under Ayushman Bhav, Health Melas and Medical Camps are an important component that will be set up once a week at all HWCs and CHCs.” He further added “Besides the launch of the Ayushman Bhav initiative, organ donation and blood donation pledge campaigns will also be organized which are noble initiatives that should be taken up by every individual.” Recalling and reiterating the Prime Minister’s vision of a healthy Bharat and a healthy world Dr Mandaviya stated “The Prime Minister has given the utmost importance to the service of humanity and nothing can be a better demonstration of this than his commitment to improving the healthcare services in the country. Earlier people had to travel long distances to avail of super-specialty services. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, these super-specialty services now will be offered at the CHC level itself in which the public will benefit by screening for noncommunicable diseases, teleconsultation, free medicines and diagnostics etc.” The Union Minister stated “Today, around 1 lakh Ni-kshay mitras are taking care of the 10 lakh TB patients who had given their consent for this initiative. This has taken us closer to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s goal of ending TB by 2025.” He praised the significant impact of healthcare services stating “In the last 9 years, there has been a significant transformation in the healthcare landscape of the country which was also appreciated by the visiting dignitaries at the G20 summit. Today, there are over 1.6 lakh functional AB-HWCs in the country where people are availing free primary care facilities, diagnostics and medicines. Till now, we have achieved a footfall of over 195 crore in the AB-HWCs.” (ANI) Ayushman Bhava campaign strives to achieve better health for all: Mansukh Mandaviya For Advertisements Call: 301-445-0200; 301-917-4800 www.Indiathisweek.online Email: indiathisweekads@gmail.com

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 15, 2023 9 Israeli StartUp’s lab-grown chicken gets certified by largest US Kosher Agency Tel Aviv [Israel], September 12 (ANI/TPS): The latest of more than 1.3 million products that the US-based Orthodox Union certifies as kosher is labgrown “chicken,” which is produced by the Tel Avivbased startup, SuperMeat. It is the first labgrown “meat” product that the nonprofit kosher agency is certifying. “The OU is pleased to provide certification to a product that meets kosher standards, while also leading innovation in food technology,” stated Rabbi Menachem Genack, CEO of OU Kosher, in a press release. Lab-grown chicken is grown from fertilized chicken egg stem cells, and as such, doesn’t come from a live animal, which would be prohibited under Jewish law. “The product is currently the product of a laboratory. Ultimately, in order to produce the product at an industrial volume, the company plans to perform a process in which the cells are propagated in industrial sized bioreactors,” Genack told the Tazpit Press Service. Given that the cells are taken during a “narrow zone of time” between when the egg is laid and blood spots—which would render the egg non-kosher—would appear, there is no concern about such spots, according to Genack. The kashrut executive also told TPS that ritual slaughter, shechita, is not required for the lab-grown “chicken,” and although there might be issues of forbidden mixtures in other areas, “there is no such problem in this case.” “ E s s e n t i a l l y, what happens is that the cells—initially a minimal amount—are introduced into an environment in which the cells divide. One becomes two, two become four and so on,” Genack said. “The environment that the original cells are delivered into is composed entirely of kosher ingredients.” The lab-grown chicken will be considered meat, he said. The environment is designed to provide energy to the cells and to stimulate their growth, and chemicals that mimic natural systems instruct the cells. “Through this process of cell division, the original miniscule sample obtained from the newly-laid egg becomes more substantive,” Genack explained. “ T h r o u g h additional technical processes, that substance can adopt a specific form and even assume the identity of specific types of cells, like a muscle cell.” “In this way, one can produce something that resembles a chicken nugget, for example.” In a statement posted on LinkedIn, SuperMeat CEO Ido Savir said, “Aligning our technology with kosher dietary laws is pivotal. This is not just about adhering to regulations but our commitment to catering to diverse dietary needs, ensuring our cultivated chicken reaches all audiences around the globe.” He added that SuperMeat and the OU would make comprehensive review of the entire supply chain and production process to help “set definitive guidelines for other cultivated meat companies looking for Kosher certification.” Cultured meat also received its first stamp of Muslim approval this week. The California-based GOOD Meat announced on Monday that a group of Islamic scholars in Saudi Arabia ruled that lab-grown meat can also be considered halal if production meets certain criteria.
