The Journey to the Cross

The Journey to the Cross

Introduction

A READING PLAN has been designed to deepen the understanding and excitement for God and His Word by exploring the 4 Gospels over 3 months. The series covers the journey from the birth of Christ to His death on Good Friday and resurrection on Easter Sunday. Each Sunday, a passage from the week's readings will be analyzed in a more profound way.

Overview of the Gospels

The journey through the Gospels includes Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, each providing a unique perspective on the life and teachings of Jesus. Matthew, written for a Jewish audience, emphasizes prophecy and sermons. Mark, possibly the first Gospel written, focuses on miracles and was intended for a Roman audience. Luke, a Gentile convert, emphasizes parables and also authored the book of Acts. John, written for a Greek audience, emphasizes the divinity of Christ and His role as the Messiah.

Weekly Readings and Themes

Week by week, the readings delve into different aspects of Jesus' life and ministry. From His proclamation and testing to the reactions and struggles of people trying to understand His identity, the readings cover a range of teachings, miracles, and interactions. Each week prepares the reader to reflect on the significance of these events leading up to Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.
