Who We Are

01 Established in 2006, ShipShape has been a vital community anchor, delivering responsive & preventive services to tackle health and inequality amongst the most deprived communities, in the neighbourhoods of Nether Edge, Abbeydale, Highfield, Sharrow, Broomhall, City Centre. ShipShape is a deeply trusted and well-embedded organisation with a strong track record of grassroots delivery and meaningful impact. It has matured beyond its origins and now functions as a vital community hub in Sheffield. The organisation's resilience is grounded in its people, partnerships, and place-based model. Over the year, we have expanded our reach, delivering a wide range of health & wellbeing services, Sports & Physical Activity, Dementia & Carers support, Employment & Learning support, Food Hub services and fostering local volunteers and family services. We are committed to improving lives & strengthening our local area, Ensuring no one is left behind due to barriers such as poverty, disability, or social exclusion.​ This report reflects on the impact of our work over the past year, showing how compassion, collaboration, and community can create lasting change. As well as our ongoing dedication to building a stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.​

02 As Chief Executive of Shipshape, I am proud to reflect on a year of remarkable resilience, growth, and impact. This past year has presented significant challenges for many of the communities we serve & for our organisation. .The ongoing cost of living crisis has placed immense pressure on individuals and families, increasing the demand for accessible, trusted support like never before. At Shipshape, we have responded with determination and compassion. Whether through our health and wellbeing services, food and energy advice, or community-led programmes, we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure that no one feels left behind. Our team, volunteers, and partners have gone above and beyond—adapting quickly, scaling services, and strengthening relationships across the city. The stories throughout this report reflect not only the needs we’ve met, but the strength of the people we work alongside. Our Service Areas

Include a weekly Lunch Club: Around the Kitchen Table, a weekly Breakfast Club, and the gardening programme Green Growers. Our Cooking on a Budget Programme is delivered as outreach work by the Food Coordinator in the community with partner organisations. I joined the HWC service with the intentions of losing weight and reducing my blood pressure after a hospital scare. The health coach helped point out small things in my diet that can have massive effects on my body. With gradual tweaks to my diet, I've managed to create good habits in my diet whilst still enjoying the foods that I love. The small things that the HWC has taught me are still having a huge impact on my life. Health & Wellbeing: Diabetes

06 We are supporting communities at risk and individuals facing challenges in managing their diabetes. Through culturally sensitive education, personalised support, and accessible resources, our program has empowered participants to take control of their health, improve self-care behaviours, and reduce complications. By addressing barriers such as language, health literacy, and access to care, we’ve made meaningful strides toward promoting health equity and better outcomes. 7 Engagements Men’s Diabetes Diabetes Education & Cafe Self Management Practical café offering health Programme screening and practical a practical programme delivered in community languages (Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi) covering food, lifestyle & exercise. education workshops 31 clients Cooking with Diabetes Programme Diabetic friendly food based session. Cooking cooking different cultural recipies. 21 Engagements 23 Engagements Emphasising prevention and raising awareness about diabetes to help individuals understand the importance of managing their condition, recognising the potential complications, & making positive changes through healthy eating habits. We delivered 6 programmes, each had between 12 18 clients per session I feel more con nected with mys elf and understating m ore than I did b efore about diabetes.
