Summary of UNCLASSIFIED CENTAM Guardian 2025 - Guatemala

Introduction

On May 12, 2025, the 321st Civil Affairs Element (CAE) deployed to conduct Civil Affairs Operations (CAO) in Guatemala City, Guatemala as part of the CENTAM GUARDIAN 25 exercise. The mission aimed to integrate civil considerations into operations and train identified tasks.

Opening Ceremony and Activities

The opening ceremony featured remarks from the U.S. Ambassador to Guatemala and key leaders of the Guatemalan Ministry of Defense. Partner nations participating in the exercise included Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic. The CAE established the Civil Military Operations Center (CMOC) and began planning Civil Engagements (CE) and Civil Reconnaissance (CR) missions.

COSEDE Higher Mission

On May 13, 2025, the CAE conducted Civil Affairs Operations at the Army Higher Education Center Guatemala (COSEDE) to enhance understanding of current threats in the operational environment. The focus was on supporting the Security Cooperation Office and Country Team Guatemala by engaging with representatives of the DSCA Institute of Security Governance and Partner Nations.
