Greetings, On behalf of the finer women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Eta Kappa Zeta chapter, I would like to thank all involved from the preparation committee and its chairmen to the supportive community, and those who we have gathered here today. I, Marla Golliday, the current President of the Eta Kappa Zeta chapter, would like to extend a warm welcome to each one of you whose presence adds remarkable value to today’s special occasion. Educators come in countless colors, shapes, and sizes and we all serve as one in some way, but today we honor those who have been and will continue to be triumphant in teaching and inspiring minds. Today is your day, live in this moment! You are always celebrating others because of what they have learned from you, now it is our turn to celebrate you. Your endless hard work will always be appreciated, from the long days and hard nights, we applaud you for making such a challenging task look so easy. We are greatly appreciative of the grand support received from all of you for our En Blanc: Educators Edition. We look forward to continuing this in the coming years! Thank you and enjoy the program! Warm Greetings to Everyone! On behalf of the members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Eta Kappa Zeta Chapter, I extend greetings to everyone gathered here this evening. We are proud to present our Educators of Excellence Awards. We are honored to have worked with Unsung Heroes who have tirelessly dedicated themselves to shaping young minds, igniting curiosity, and fostering a love for learning. We acknowledge their resilience, adaptability, and dedication, especially in the face of unprecedented challenges. Their unwavering commitment to our scholars and well-being is deserving of our highest praise and appreciation. We have no doubt that they will continue to lead our scholars with integrity, compassion, and purpose. To our award recipients, congratulations! You are the stars of today’s show. Your tireless efforts, innovative teaching methods, and genuine care for your scholars have not gone unnoticed. May this award serve as a reminder that your impact extends far beyond the classroom walls. We applaud and thank those who have taken time out of their busy schedules to celebrate with us. Your attendance makes this a marvelous evening. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we enjoy presenting it to you. Let us also acknowledge the hard work of our organizing committee who meticulously planned and executed this event. Their dedication ensures that we gather here today to recognize greatness. Finally, I would like to thank the members of the Eta Kappa Zeta Chapter who gave of their time and resources in our continued effort to be of service and finer women. Barry Malloyd

Educator | Coach | Mentor | Leader Barry Crawford Malloyd is a dedicated educator, mentor, and coach, currently serving as the Managing Director in East St. Louis School District #189 and Head Boys Track & amp, Field Coach at East St. Louis Senior High School. His unwavering commitment to developing student-athletes and fostering a culture of excellence has cemented his reputation as a motivator and role model. In recognition of his profound impact on the sport, Coach Malloyd was inducted into the Illinois Track and Cross-Country Coaches Association (ITCCCA) Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. A proud son of Brenda Hicks and the late Rev. Clifford Barry Malloyd, Sr., Coach Malloyd’s journey in track and field began as a standout scholar-athlete at Lincoln Senior High School, where he led the Tigers to two IHSA State Championships, achieving record-breaking team scores in IHSA history. In 1982, he claimed the AAU Junior Olympics National title in the 110m high hurdles, earning the distinction of the #1 ranked hurdler in the nation. He continued his athletic career on a full track and field scholarship at Arkansas State University before transferring and graduating with honors from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication/Radio TV. His achievements included being an NCAA Academic AllAmerican and a 1988 Olympic Trials qualifier in the 110m high hurdles. Returning home in 1996, Coach Malloyd contributed as a sports commentator for STLChannel 16 in St. Louis and the East St. Louis Charter Network before transitioning into coaching. As Head Boys Track & Field Coach at ESTL Lincoln Middle School, his teams won five IESA State Championships, setting unprecedented records. In 2012-13, he took on the role of Head Boys Track & amp, Field Coach at East St. Louis Senior High School, leading his team to a runner-up finish at the IHSA State Meet. His leadership reached new heights in 2016 when the Flyers secured the IHSA Class 3A Boys State Track & Field Championship, followed by another historic victory in 2019—their second IHSA State Championship, scoring the highest points in East St. Louis history by any high school track team. Coach Malloyd’s accolades include the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Winning in Life Award, the 2016 IHSA Coach of the Year Award, a National High School Coach of the Year Finalist, the NAACP Winner’s Circle Award, and numerous others. Beyond coaching, he is an educator, youth minister, author, motivational speaker, and a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He also serves as Vice President of the Epics J.R. Foundation, furthering his commitment to leadership and community impact.

Dr. Dorothy Beckley-Carter

Parent Engagement Specialist | Educator | Researcher | Community Advocate Dr. Dorothy Beckley-Carter is a dedicated educational professional currently serving as a Parent Engagement Specialist at Vivian Adams Early Childhood Center in East St. Louis School District 189. With a strong commitment to fostering meaningful connections between families and educational institutions, she brings expertise in early childhood engagement, instructional leadership, and student support. Previously, she contributed to academic development as a Substitute Teacher for St. Louis Public Schools. Beyond her professional commitments, she finds joy in family gatherings, word puzzles, staying informed through online research, and continuously expanding her educational credentials. She also values moments of solitude and personal reflection. Dr. Beckley-Carter is actively engaged in several prestigious organizations, including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the National Society of Leadership and Success, Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Additionally, she serves as a Notary Public for the State of Illinois. Her academic accomplishments are extensive, holding degrees from renowned institutions: Bachelor’s in business with a Concentration in Management – University of Phoenix; master’s in education & Innovation + Graduate Certificate in Tiered Instruction & Intervention (RTI & PBIS) – Webster University; Educational Specialist in Instructional Leadership with an Emphasis in Pre-K-12 – Lindenwood University; Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership – Maryville University She holds a Teacher Educator License in Career and Technical Education (CTE) with endorsements in Business Management & Administration, Early Childhood Education & Training, and Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration, complemented by numerous certifications and specialized training achievements. Dr. Beckley-Carter's work, "Contributing Factors to Student Retention: A Qualitative Approach Exploring the Lived Experiences of African American Males Enrolled at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)," was published in the Journal of Negro Education in June 2024 and was inspired by her son's personal experiences at an HBCU. With a steadfast commitment to education, professional excellence, and family, Dr. Beckley-Carter remains devoted to positively influencing her community and empowering future generations. Dr. Beckley is deeply devoted to her family and cherishes her roles as a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister. She is a firm believer in faith and perseverance. She lives by the guiding scripture, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
