Nijjar, who was wanted in India, was gunned down outside a gurdwara, in a parking area in Canada‘s Surrey, BC on June 18. Hailing from Bharsinghpur village in Punjab’s Jalandhar, Nijjar was based in Surrey and had been declared “absconder” by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). According to CBC News, Canada, PM Trudeau said his country’s national security officials had reasons to believe that “agents of the Indian government” carried out the killing of the Canadian citizen, who also served as the president of Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara. “Canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the Government of India and the killing of a Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” Trudeau said. He stressed that the involvement of a foreign hand or government in the killing of a Canadian citizen in July, last year, announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh on Nirjar in connection with the killing of a Hindu priest in Jalandhar. “Hardeep Singh Nijjar is wanted by the National Investigation Agency in NIA case in the conspiracy hatched by Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) operating under Nijjar, to kill a Hindu priest at Jalandhar,” the NIA had said in a release. Canada was unacceptable. “Any involvement of a foreign government in the killing of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil is an unacceptable violation of our sovereignty. It is contrary to the fundamental rules by which free, open, and democratic societies conduct themselves,” Trudeau added. He informed further that he was coordinating with Canadian allies on this issue. “As you would expect, we have been working closely and coordinating with our allies on this very serious matter,” he said. Trudeau also urged the Indian government to “cooperate with Canada to get to the bottom of this matter”, CBC News reported. He claimed that some Indo-Canadians were “angry” and “perhaps frightened right adding, “Let us not allow this to change us”. Earlier, the NIA in B a n g a l o r e (Karnataka) [India], September 19 (ANI): The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced on Tuesday that its maiden solar mission — Aditya-L1 — has performed the Trans-Lagrangean Point 1 Insertion (TL1I) manoeuvre successfully and the spacecraft was now in a trajectory that will take it to the Sun-Earth L1 point. ISRO also informed that it marked the fifth consecutive time that the ISRO had successfully transferred an object on a trajectory toward another celestial body or location in space. A post on the ISRO official handle on social media platform X read, “Aditya-L1 Mission | Off to Sun-Earth L1 point | The Trans-Lagrangean Point 1 Insertion (TL1I) manoeuvre is performed successfully. The spacecraft is now on a trajectory that will take it to the Sun-Earth L1 point. It will be injected into an orbit around L1 through a manoeuvre after about 110 days. This is the fifth consecutive time ISRO has successfully transferred an object on a trajectory toward another celestial body or location in space.” Earlier, a launcher carrying the Aditya-L1 spacecraft blasted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Station at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. Situated on the picturesque banks of the Narmada River, Omkareshwar is approximately 80 km away from the bustling city of Indore. The awe-inspiring multi-metal sculpture stands on a 54-foot-high pedestal and has a height of 108 feet. The sculpture is all set to be inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on September 21. Sharing details of the installation and scheduled inauguration of the statue, Khandwa Collector Anoop Kumar Singh said, “The work on the installation of a 108-feet statue of Adi Shankaracharya is underway below the Mandhata mountain in Omkareshwar. The statue will stand at a height of 108 feet and will also have a pedestal, which will be 54 feet high. The work is in its final stages. The statue will be unveiled by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on September 21.” CM Chouhan said earlier that the statue will be inaugurated with much grandeur and devotion. September 22, 2023 Friday INDIA THIS WEEK Washington Conference On World Religions: A Celebration Of Religious Diversity Washington Conference, World Religions and Peace Inc., and the Art of Living, organized an enjoyable, informative, and entertaining event the evening of September 10, 2023 at the Martin’s Crosswinds, Greenbelt, MD. The theme of the evening was “Unconditional Love.” It was an interfaith conference with speakers from various belief systems, including the Hindu, Islamic, Buddhist and Christian ideologies. The Chief Guest was Gurudev Sir Sri Ravi Shankar, a towering international figure, well-known for promoting individual selfdevelopment, sustainable growth programs worldwide, as well as being a messenger and advocate for global peace. The first speaker was Dr. Rajan Natarajan, an entrepreneur, inventor and public servant. He spoke about the way love is expressed in the work place and in the challenging environment of labor and administration, where real leadership counts – leadership that respects all levels of hierarchy, and seeks to promote harmony and teamwork. Dr. Weymouth Spence, President of the Washington Adventist University, and a committed Christian, described unconditional love in the context of inter-personal relationships and how it is preserved when the human relationship with God is first established. Humanto-human relationships are thus placed on a firm and beautiful foundation. Diplomate Jean Rico Dormeus, representative of the Organization of American States (which consists of about 30 states in the Americas,) portrayed unconditional love in the case of individuals, as well as in the broader horizon of relationships between countries and their various inter-cultural values. It was a privilege to have Bhante Katugastota Uparatana Nayaka Maha Thera, a Buddhist monk, whose soft and pleasant words were read out of a well-prepared script. This comes just a day after Santiniketan, the town in West Bengal, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list on Sunday. “BREAKING! Notably, the Hoysala Temples of Belur, Halebid, and Somnathapura in Karnataka that are now included in the UNESCO World Heritage list make them the 42nd UNESCO World Heritage Site of India. “More pride for India! The release said India is a democratic polity with a strong commitment to the rule of law. “Such unsubstantiated allegations seek to shift the focus from extremists, who have been provided shelter in Canada and continue to threaten India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The inaction of the Canadian Government on this matter has been a long-standing and continuing concern,” it added. The release states that Canadian political figures have openly expressed sympathy for such elementsand that remain a matter of deep concern. “The space given in Canada to a range of illegal activities including murders, human trafficking and organised crime is not new” read the release. India has strongly rejected any attempts to connect the government to such developments. “We urge the Government of Canada to take prompt and effective legal action against all antiIndia elements operating from their soil,” the MEA said. In a media address on Tuesday, Poilievre said, “I think the prime minister needs to come clean with all the facts. We need to know all the evidence possible so that Canadians can make judgments on that. Poilievre’s remarks came in response to a media query that asked what more should be done as an Indian diplomat was expelled by Canada. “The prime minister hasn’t provided any facts. He provided a statement. And I will just emphasize that he didn’t tell me any more in private than he told Canadians in public. So we want to see more information,” Poilievre said. He stated that the allegations could be found untrue or uncredible if more information is not provided. “We need to have the evidence that drew that allowed the prime minister to come to the conclusions he made yesterday,” he said. “I would have to have more evidence to make a judgment on that. I do find it interesting that he knew about vast foreign interference by Beijing for many years, at the same time as Beijing had kept two Canadian citizens hostage. And he said nothing. And C a n a d i a n journalist Terry Milewski on Tuesday said he hoped that more “evidence” will come to the surface in the form of “leaks, or announcements or private briefings”. Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, Milewski said the allegation “better be good” as if it isn’t, it will turn into a “bigger embarrassment for Prime Minister Trudeau”. The nationals—Parvesh Kumar, Manpreet Singh, Rohit, and Sukhwinder Singh — returned to Delhi on Friday morning. These young men went to Libya early this year in February after fake travel agents promised them jobs in Italy. All of them were flown from India in February 2023 via Dubai and then Egypt. After a few days, they were landed in Libya and kept in Zuwara City. Visibly shaken and shocked, these young men remembered their horrific experiences in the North African country, saying they had to survive on a meagre meal of bread, faced constant punishment for missed deadlines, and were sold as labour multiple times. Last month, 17 Indian youths, mostly belonging to the Punjab and Haryana states, were rescued by Indian authorities from Libya. “ W e were sold to the mafia, who were engaged in the labour work at construction sites. They (mafia) used to keep a bottle of water in front of us but we were not allowed to drink before completing our task. We faced a lot of hardships. They used to give us only one or two slices of bread. We were sold many times,” said Manpreet Singh. We had no contact with him. We tried contacting everyone. It was an extremely difficult time for us. I am happy my brother is here,” Singh’s sister said. Sukwinder, while recalling his experience, informed that he and other Indian nationals were sold multiple times. “We were sold to different mafias after the work. It continued for a month. We somehow were able to contact the embassy. They helped us and brought us back. I am extremely thankful for this,” Sukwinder said. His statement came in response to the polls indicating that his unfavorability is escalating. One commentator said Americans find him “annoying” on Sunday. He responded to the polls during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream. (ANI) Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 18 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday inaugurated the Srinivasa Sethu fly-over, the new hostel complex of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) -Sri Venkateswara Arts College and other facilities worth Rs. 1,300 crore, here on Monday. The Chief Minister also distributed house site pattas to the TTD employees. Inaugurating the 7- km Srinivasa Sethu fly-over built with a cost of Rs.650 crore, the Chief Minister said that it was completed in the last four years after the TDP Government laid the foundation stone. CM Jagan alleged that the former TDP government in the state abandoned the project. The Chief Minister said that the Rs.37.80 crore hostel college complex would provide more accommodation to the students. CM Jagan also inaugurated Vakula Mata Nilayam and Rachana Andhra CM Jagan inaugurates projects worth Rs 1,300 crore in temple town Tirumala complex built with Rs. 7 crores and Rs. 11.50 crore respectively through donations. The Chief Minister formally handed over house site pattas worth Rs. 313 crore to 3,518 TTD employees and said pattas would be given to the remaining employees in the next 45 days. He said lands of 8,050 persons in Tirupati and 2,500 persons in Chandragiri were removed from section 22A and the owners were given full ownership. (ANI)
