In partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperatives, the Climate Action Series focuses on climate-smart agriculture to combat the climate crisis. The Road to Egypt, COP27 aims to highlight mitigation and adaptation measures undertaken by various stakeholders to build resilience towards a low carbon economy, emphasizing the need for financial support from developed nations.
Eco-friendly livelihood
In Marimanti, Tharaka Nithi County, a farm serves as a training ground for farmers to combat climate change effects through agroecology. The Rural Initiatives Development Programme promotes sustainable soil management practices and agroecological techniques to enhance crop yields, reduce costs, and improve farmers' incomes while preserving the environment.
Chemical fertiliser substitute
California Vermifarm specializes in vermicomposting, producing organic manure using earthworms. By enhancing nutrient content and utilizing green biomass, the farm offers an eco-friendly alternative to chemical fertilizers. The farm also produces vermicast, vermitea, and earthworms for sale, promoting sustainable farming practices.
