History of the National Summit for Sustainability of HBCUs

The National Summit for Sustainability of HBCUs originated from the vision of the late Thomas W. Dortch, Jr., who envisioned a platform to support and enhance HBCU institutions. The summit began as a 2-day event in Atlanta, gathering national leaders and experts to focus on sustaining and advancing colleges and universities. Attendees left equipped with valuable best practices and solutions to implement immediately. The overwhelming success of the summit led to calls for annual convenings, addressing key areas such as technology, resource development, and endowment. The legacy of Thomas W. Dortch, Jr., continues to inspire and guide the efforts of the summit's partners in uplifting underserved communities and promoting excellence in education.
