Featuring Southernmost String Quartet
On February 21, 2025, the Southernmost String Quartet will be performing at the Tennessee Williams Cabaret Theatre on the campus of the College of the Florida Keys. Led by Irie Monte, the quartet will showcase works by female composers such as Fanny Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann, as well as songs by contemporary female songwriters like Dolly Parton and Taylor Swift. Joining Irie are Stephanie Jaimes, Michelle Sanchez, and Paola Nierez, forming an all-female ensemble dedicated to bringing the music of legendary women to life. Irie Monte
Irie Monte, a classically trained violinist and educator based in Key West, will be leading the Southernmost String Quartet. With a background in music education from New York University, Irie has performed in various ensembles and orchestras, including the New York Repertory Orchestra. She is passionate about building a community of string players in Key West and inspiring students of all ages through music. Irie has graced stages at prestigious venues like the Tennessee Williams Theater and The Studios of Key West, showcasing her talent and dedication to the art of music (p.2).
Michelle Sanchez - Viola
Michelle Sanchez, a skilled violist, has an impressive musical background, having pursued a Bachelor's degree in Viola Performance and completing her Masters Degree at Florida International University. She has performed with renowned conductors and musicians, participated in master classes, and been part of various orchestras and ensembles. Michelle's commitment to music extends beyond performing, as she is actively involved in teaching and program management at the Greater Miami Youth Symphony. Her passion for music, teaching, and community engagement shines through her work and performances (p.3).
