Joy Hawkins is a multifaceted talent who has made significant contributions to both stage and screen. Her career spans over four decades, showcasing her versatility as an actress, director, and entertainer. She has been seen on all the stages of Key West — The Red Barn Theatre (where she serves as Artistic Director), the Key West Pops, Bobby in the Lobby, a Randy Roberts Extravaganza and the Waterfront Playhouse where she was fortunate to play the leads in August: Osage County, Doubt, The Glass Menagerie, Mothers and Sons and The Trip to Bountiful. Frequently, Joy is seen around the country in regional theatres as Louise in the very popular Always…Patsy Cline as well as touring Scotland, England and Ireland with the show. Long ago credits include being resident comedienne and The Tiger Girl on The Dean Martin Show, one of Dean’s Golddiggers and starring in The Gene Kelly Show in Las Vegas. Joy was seen on Broadway in the musical Illya Darling starring Melina Mercouri. She has a degree in Theatre from Northwestern University. Joy has directed over 65 productions for The Red Barn, Stoneham Theatre in MA, Florida Studio Theatre, Tucson’s Invisible Theatre and The Allenberry Playhouse. Jim Rice, of Boston, New York City and now Providence RI, is an accomplished and diverse conductor, music director, arranger, pianist and singer. In 1983 when he first came to Key West, the first person he met when he stepped off the plane was Joy Hawkins. She is the matriarch of Jim’s “Key West Family”. For over 40 years Jim has been returning to Key West performing at the Red Barn Theater, TWFAC, Waterfront Playhouse, and contributing arrangements for Randy Roberts shows. Jim performs regularly at Club Cafe in Boston and his solo shows have been performed at The Arctic Playhouse RI and The Red Barn Theater. Currently working as a singer/pianist alongside his longtime musical colleague Valerie Roy, he has several shows including A Tribute to Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme. Jim has performed in hundreds of theaters and concert halls throughout Europe and the United States but when in Key West, he always feels like he’s come home. JR
