we do and the decisions we make. We strive to provide a calm, nurturing and loving school environment to enable children to flourish and to truly be the very “best that they can be in God’s beautiful world” Our children are happy and enjoy school. They build lasting friendships, look after one another and live out our Christian values every day. These values of hope, generosity, friendship, perseverance, forgiveness and love are underpinned by the value of koinonia which means “community” as we recognise that it really does take a “village to raise a child.” We value the relationships we build with pupils and parents alike. By working together to shape the future of all the young people we welcome into our school, we know we can give them the best possible start on their educational journey.
In EYFS, the focus is on developing independence. The children enjoy a mix of whole class teaching in phonics and maths as well as themed continuous provision. The children have access to an outdoor learning space with a range of activities to encourage interaction and choice. Story time is really important as we support our children to develop a love of reading. We also encourage parents to join in with this as “mystery readers!” Our school provides a broad and balanced curriculum for all pupils. We acknowledge the importance of creative subjects. The school has a number of specialist teachers: All children have a music lesson each week delivered by a music specialist PE is planned and taught by a PE specialist French in KS2 is also taught by a specialist This gives the children at CCFS the best possible chances of future success.
school Here at Christ Church, we offer all children the opportunity to experience the outdoors through our Wilderness School. At our dedicated Wilderness School space, in the grounds of Christ Church Academy, our children try out bushcraft activities such as fire lighting, shelter building and outdoor cooking. We endeavour to link Wilderness School with the wider curriculum subjects such as art and science.
All children are welcomed at Christ Church First school and we understand that not all children find school easy. We have a dedicated SENCO and all staff are highly experienced in providing quality education and support for all pupils, regardless of need. Relationships are highly important and we strive to establish supportive partnerships with parents to provide the best possible care for our pupils. This is the best way to ensure that any support is available at the point of need as we acknowledge that waiting lists for specialist services are long. If your child has additional needs or if you would like some advice prior to starting school, please contact Miss Bourne - our SEN Coordinator on 01785 336545
Wellbeing is of the highest priority at Christ Church. We understand that children can only perform at their very best if they are happy, safe and settled. We offer a wide range of activities to support wellbeing: We have a school therapy dog called Rusty We have a trained Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) who can help with a range of interventions to support children who may be struggling, for whatever reason. The Happiness Hub provides a quiet area for children in need of support and time out from the ‘busy-ness’ of school life. Access to a quiet area at lunch time if the playground is too hectic. All staff are attachment aware and trauma informed. We are a “My Happy Mind” school and children receive regular wellbeing and mindfulness lessons through a recognised scheme.
unique - we are in a Grade II listed building in a terraced street. As we are so close to the town centre, we make the most of all the surrounding areas. We regularly visit Stonefield Park and Crown Meadow for science and geography lessons and we visit the town centre and canal for living history lessons. Our sports day takes place at the Church at the Crossing where we hold a family picnic after the races. Football and cricket clubs are held at Alleynes Academy Sports Centre.

Visits to the school are always welcome. Choosing a school is a big decision and we always recommend a tour of the school before making your decision.
