Cambridge offers three stages of education for students aged 11 to 19 – Cambridge Lower Secondary, Cambridge Upper Secondary and Cambridge Advanced. schools the chance to shape the curriculum so that it is exciting and relevant for their own students. Cambridge Pathway students have the chance to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to achieve at school, university and beyond. The four stages lead seamlessly from primary to secondary and pre-university years. Each stage – Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary, Cambridge Upper Secondary and Cambridge Advanced – builds on the learners’ development from the previous one, but can also be offered separately. Cambridge Lower Secondary is typically for learners aged 11 to 14 years. It helps you prepare students for the next step of their education, providing a clear path as they progress through the Cambridge Pathway in an age-appropriate way. At Boswell we offer the following subjects for the lower secondary learners. English English as a Second Language † Science Mathematics Global Perspectives Computing Wellbeing† † To be implemented By offering Cambridge Lower Secondary, we provide a broad and balanced education for your learners, helping them to thrive throughout their schooling, work and life, to find plenty of opportunities to develop creativity, expression and wellbeing in a variety of ways. We shape the curriculum around how we want our students to learn. As the curriculum is flexible, we can offer any combination of the subjects available and adapt the content to suit our context, culture and ethos. Many of our schools offer Cambridge Lower Secondary alongside their national curriculum, or as part of a bilingual programme. What is Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint Examination? Many schools use Cambridge Checkpoint to assess learners at the end of the lower secondary programme. The tests are marked by Cambridge International for English as a first or second language, mathematics and science. Schools use the feedback from Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint to make strategic decisions, drawing upon a pool of information and specialist reporting tools that we have built into the tests. You can use the reports to:     tailor individual learning programmes monitor group and individual performance compare the performance of all learners taking tests in that session manage learning programmes within schools and as learners move between schools. The test feedback measures a learner’s performance in relation to:     the Curriculum framework their teaching group a whole school cohort previous years’ learners. Learner report     The learner report for each individual learner gives a: Cambridge Checkpoint score achieved at subject level mark achieved at strand and sub-strand/skill level Statement of Achievement that shows the subjects and scores achieved. It is mandatory that all the students who want to do Cambridge O Levels, take this Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint Examination. This exam will be considered as the official completion of their Cambridge Lower secondary education and as a pre-assessment for their O Level class admission. Page 9 of 57
