AIS-NSM: Innovative Solution for

Warships Upgraded AIS for Warships with innovative National Secure Mode: • For automated exchange of messages between ships by VHF. Enables ships and traffic monitoring systems to know the identity, status, position and route of a vessel. Above all an anti-collision system. National Secure Mode (NSM) • Ensures complete security for the Naval communications • Management of transmission in compliance with NATO STANAG • Feasible to adapt to the integrated secure network requirements

CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS VDES

The key concept of the operation of the VDES includes: • VDES provides a capability of data exchange between ships and shore users by terrestrial or satellite link. • Operation of VDES is subject to control stations, but may operate autonomously without a shore infrastructure. • Data exchange from the ship may occur automatically or manually • Data exchange uses the designated VHF channel(s) • Transmission and reception of the data occur with the minimum involvement of the ship’s personnel • Includes existing AIS and ASM • Additional capabilities include support of the VDE. • VDES-related applications should support language-independent communications (e.g., through use of digital data dictionaries) • VDES implements data integrity monitoring at the VDES link level (e.g., checksum); • The VDES-related applications address cybersecurity (e.g., authentication, key management, and, if required, encryption); • Has a high level of availability;

AIS-NSM: Functions and Advantages

The real no see Position Decoying A fishing boat is not in an authorized fishing zone, and it manages to escape by monitoring an approaching warship using its AIS. However, with AIS–NSM the warship can create a number of false trails surrounding the fishing boat and decoy its position to intercept and catch it. False For example, make a pirate ship believe that a warship is a cruise ship. Allows you to deceptively identify your IN/CG Warship. Luring and False Leads The real no see The pirate thinks The pirates pounce on their prey, believing they are dealing with a harmless vessel. The warship can then easily engage the pirate ship
