About Me

As a second-year Architectural Engineering student at the University of Waterloo, I am passionate about bridging the gap between architectural vision and engineering precision. I bring an architect’s eye for design combined with a strong foundation in engineering principles to create projects that are not only functional but efficient, sustainable, and inspiring. Through my industry experience and academic study, I have become enthralled with the process of taking an idea from concept to reality. Simple ideas or emotions can evolve into works of art through the various stages of design and construction. Being part of this transformation is not just a goal for me; it is what drives my passion for this field My professional experience spans estimating, project coordination, and design across a range of sectors including commercial developments, single-family homes, custom homes, and solar infrastructure. These roles have taught me to navigate a wide range of project demands and have helped me become a flexible, solution-oriented team member. Each of my co-op placement has enhanced my ability to adapt, learn continuously, and collaborate effectively. Outside of academics and work, I believe in the importance of balance. In my free time, I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, staying active through intramural sports, hiking, swimming, and exploring new neighborhoods on foot.

Project Details

The Modern Languages reclad project concerns one of the University of Waterloo ’s pivotal art department campus buildings under the same name. The building is located as the heart of the campus and looks to entice new and current students and faculty to embrace the campus life at the University of Waterloo. The current building enclosure is outdated as it was built in 1963 and lacks sufficient thermal insulation resulting in a mediocre thermal performance as a whole. The reclad projects aims to prioritize durability budget, and scheduling per the client's requests which is the , baseline to all proposed enclosure solutions. Thermal Lab Results Photos from the thermal analysis lab conducted on the existing structure. They depict large thermal losses near the windows and roof.

Solution

The main structure of the enclosure will feature an Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) facade with two layers of XPS insulation followed by a steel stud backup wall. Large complete wall sections (3656mm x 2540mm) will be prefabricated prior to construction for a fast and efficient install. Special consideration has been taken into account for materials used to ensure a budget friendly project.
