FOREWORD

The second edition of ’Rain-In’ which is a compact short term Winter & Monsoon Internship Program between semesters of colleges is here. From my practice and teaching experiences over the decades, I felt that there is a need of synergy between practice and academia which can only help growth at every level for professionals, students, teachers, institutions, practices and the overall domain of Architecture. The ‘Rain-In’ program is conceptualised from this perspective as a baby step with a hope that this would grow across the spectrum and develop a conscious nurturing culture. As we are about to complete our second cycle of ‘Rain-In’ for Winter 2025, it reinforces our vision thoroughly as we see a mutual invigoration at various aspects which are not limited to Architecture alone but Life in general and probably that is why I say ‘Architecture is a way of Life’. In this edition, we focused on bringing our sub-brand ‘ArtDaily’ in our architectural design realm. How an art form can be processed and contribute to create a system in the built environment was the experimental essence. Suman Paul 2

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to our collaborative portfolio, showcasing our experiences at Rainmaker Studio across library organization, product design, CNC cutting, and memory mapping. Our library collaboration blended individual strengths into a structured system for better accessibility. We curated ten books by architects, deepening our understanding of architectural thought and enhancing our ability to analyze literature. In product design, we balanced functionality and aesthetics, applying design thinking for innovative solutions. CNC cutting introduced precision manufacturing, where we translated digital models into physical prototypes. A sketch captures fleeting thoughts, emotions, and ideas instantly, celebrating spontaneity and raw creativity. Featured in Art Daily, sketches reveal movement, expression, and depth, embodying artistic freedom, exploration, and imperfection in visual storytelling. This transformative internship honed critical thinking, problemsolving, and teamwork. Our portfolio chronicles this journey, showcasing the multifaceted nature of our work and our collaborative approach to architectural exploration and problemsolving. 4
