In March 2025, the East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP) is revolutionizing the East Coast Main Line by implementing a modern, digitized signalling system. This collaborative partnership aims to remove physical signals and replace them with in-cab signalling, creating a more dynamic and reliable railway. The ECDP consists of the Northern City Line (NCL) pathfinder renewals project and the East Coast Main Line South (ECML-S) benefits-led project, with over 30 partners working together to deliver this transformation.
