Inauguration of the new Centre of Excellence Podiatry Services

The Podiatry Centre of Excellence was inaugurated in B'KARA by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health, marking a significant milestone in commitment to excellence. This is the third Centre of Excellence within Primary HealthCare, following the Eye Screening Centre and Speech and Language Pathology Centre. A substantial investment was made in refurbishment and modernization, leading to organizational success and a united team effort. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, a focus was maintained on providing top-notch services to clients across the Maltese Islands. The launch of the Test tal-Fehim tal-Malti (TFM) in the Speech and Language Centre addressed the need for a clinical test assessing verbal comprehension in the Maltese language, benefiting children between 2 and 8 years old. The tool has received positive feedback from Speech and Language Pathologists, carers, and service users.

Telemedicine Client Support Centre Inauguration

The inauguration of the Telemedicine Client Support Centre at Mosta Technopark on March 26, 2021, marked a significant event for Primary HealthCare. Additionally, the organization was recognized with the eBusiness Awards trophy for the Best use of Tech in Business Transformation, specifically for the EPR project focusing on transitioning from paper-based patient records to an integrated Electronic Patient Record IT system. The importance of vaccination and precautionary measures for COVID-19 was emphasized, highlighting the ongoing research on vaccine effectiveness, transmission prevention, and the necessity of following public health measures until herd immunity is achieved. The Podiatry Centre of Excellence introduced new services such as the claudication clinic, high-risk foot biomechanics clinic, and expanded services like the rheumatoid foot clinic.
