For 30 years, your foundation has been instrumental in inspiring excellence, innovation, and transformation among local government units and their communities through the recognition you give through your awards. With this, not only have you contributed to the government in its efforts to uplift our people's lives, but you have also raised the level of service and dedication among our leaders. I also acknowledge the winners and finalists of the 2022 Galing Pook Awards for exhibiting what it means to be genuinely cognizant of the needs of their constituents. Much like the hard work and 8 2022 Galing Pook Awards vision of those who have come before us, your innovative practices as well as the optimism you hold for our nation all help pave the way for a better future for our present and next generations. I also congratulate the Galing Pook Foundation and join its organizers and partners in celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Galing Pook Awards, an extraordinary initiative that recognizes the excellence and innovation of the mavericks of the Philippine local government since its establishment in 1993. Aligned with the awarding ceremony theme “Padayon para sa Ligtas, Matalino at Matatag na Pamayanan,” this magazine features last year’s ten outstanding local governance programs that aim to ensure safe, supportive, responsive, and resilient communities amid the 21st-century challenges. This creative and informative material highlights the key elements making them game changers in good local governance. Indeed, this is indicative of your organization's commitment to honoring and raising awareness about the valuable efforts at the local level, showcasing how programs of local government units (LGUs) provide people with opportunities that change their lives for the better. Hence, I urge local leaders and LGUs to learn from these best practices as a starting point to replicate and improve on these ideas and eventually come up with their own magnum opus. In that way, we will be able to replicate and multiply these gains that are already proven to be effective. As one of the founding institutions of this initiative, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) extends its full support to Galing Pook as you continue to identify, award, and promote the good practices of LGUs paving way for inclusive and equitable local development. May these paragons of efficient local governance serve as an inspiration to local leaders and LGUs and be passed on to the present and future generations in order to strengthen their trust and partnership with the government.
