CV Writing and LinkedIn Orientation Workshop Report
In the WPSC, leadership revolves around management and service, focusing on uplifting and empowering fellow students. The council hosted a workshop to equip pharmacy students with insights into networking, internship opportunities, CV writing, and interviews. Speakers shared valuable tips on CV and cover letter writing, internship applications, and academic opportunities. Dr. Poornima Ramburrun provided a comprehensive guide for crafting a professional CV and curated a resource folder for ongoing support. The workshop's success led to plans for a Part 2 session focusing on sector-specific career insights.
As the WPSC, the mission is to empower students for their future careers by bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world expectations. The upcoming workshop will feature professionals from various pharmacy sectors to offer perspectives on securing positions and excelling in specialized areas. The council aims to shape well-prepared pharmacists who can thrive in their chosen paths.

'Tis the Season: Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
RSV is a highly contagious virus affecting the respiratory tract, especially in infants, leading to bronchiolitis. The virus season typically starts in autumn and peaks in winter, coinciding with the flu season. RSV transmission occurs through infected respiratory droplets or contact with contaminated surfaces. Symptoms range from upper respiratory tract issues to severe lower respiratory complications, especially in vulnerable populations. Prevention includes strict handwashing, cleaning surfaces, and staying home when symptomatic.
For severe cases, monoclonal antibodies like Palivizumab and Nirsevimab offer immediate protection, and a newly approved vaccine, Abrysvo®, is available for vulnerable populations. Understanding RSV and its preventative measures is crucial for pharmacists to effectively counsel patients amidst the ongoing season.
