In the spirit of global climate responsibility, India presents its Panchamrit—five nectar elements—to confront the challenge of climate change. We will raise our non-fossil energy capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of our energy needs from renewables by 2030. We will reduce projected carbon emissions by one billion tonnes and lower the carbon intensity of our economy by 45%. And by 2070, India will achieve Net Zero emissions. These five commitments are India’s historic and transformative contribution to global climate action. - Prime Minister Narendra Modi, COP26 Summit, Glasgow GIDC Commitments GIDC commits to environmental excellence by prioritizing cleaner production, resource efficiency, robust water and waste management, emissions control, biodiversity preservation, and proactive climate adaptation measures to ensure sustainable industrial development.
Chief Minister of Gujarat Message Gujarat has always been at the forefront of India’s industrial development while upholding its responsibility toward environmental protection and sustainability. Our commitment is not only to build world-class infrastructure but also to ensure that progress harmonizes with ecological preservation. The Eco-Restoration and environmental management plan for Dahej SEZ, as presented in this Coffee Table Book, reflects a forward-looking vision that aligns with both Gujarat’s development ethos and India’s climate commitments. The integration of sustainability into industrial planning is no longer optional—it is essential. Dahej SEZ has long symbolized Gujarat’s economic dynamism. Now, it is poised to become a model of industrial ecology—where economic strength and environmental consciousness go hand in hand. I commend the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation for this important initiative and extend my best wishes to all stakeholders involved in shaping a greener, more resilient industrial future. (Bhupendra Patel)
Minister of Industries, Gujarat Message The Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation’s initiative to undertake eco-restoration and environmental management of the Dahej Special Economic Zone marks a significant step in aligning industrial infrastructure with sustainability goals. Dahej SEZ has played a vital role in positioning Gujarat as a global manufacturing hub. The proposed environmental interventions—green buffer zones, ecological restoration, and pollution control—demonstrate a progressive approach to responsible development. It is heartening to see industry leaders embracing sustainability not as a challenge but as an opportunity for innovation and long-term resilience. This Coffee Table Book not only documents a vision for ecological renewal but also serves as a model for other industrial zones across the country. I applaud the GIDC and all those involved in conceptualizing this plan and wish them success in translating it into tangible outcomes. (Praveena D.K., IAS)
Principal Secretary, Industries & Mines Department Message Sustainable development lies at the heart of Gujarat’s industrial strategy. As one of the state's most dynamic industrial corridors, Dahej SEZ presents an ideal opportunity to showcase how environmental restoration can be integrated into industrial policy and planning. The roadmap presented in this Coffee Table Book outlines an ambitious and thoughtful approach to balancing ecological concerns with economic growth. From enhancing green cover to adopting pollution mitigation measures, this initiative reflects a maturing development framework—one that values natural capital as much as economic capital. I commend GIDC for taking a leadership role in this initiative and for demonstrating that a green industrial future is both necessary and achievable. This effort will surely inspire similar actions across Gujarat and beyond. (Mamta Verma, IAS)
Hon. Vice Chairperson & Managing Director, GIDC Message At GIDC, we believe that the future of industrial development must be regenerative—reviving ecosystems even as we expand infrastructure. The eco-restoration and environmental management plan for Dahej SEZ reflects our strong commitment to embedding sustainability into every stage of planning and execution. This initiative is not merely a technical undertaking—it is a vision to transform an economic zone into a living, breathing model of harmony between industry and nature. The strategies outlined—from biodiversity enhancement to environmental monitoring—are designed to ensure that Dahej sets a new benchmark for ecoconscious industrial development. This Coffee Table Book captures that vision in both spirit and substance. I sincerely thank all who have contributed to this effort and look forward to Dahej SEZ becoming a flagship example of sustainable industrialization in India. (Praveena D.K., IAS)
