INTRODUCTION

Assessment plays a key role in the teaching and learning process, especially in English. To make sure the assessment is effective in measuring students' real abilities, it's important to have well-designed test questions. When test items are clear and valid, they help teachers accurately understand students' strengths and weaknesses, and ensure the test truly reflects what they know. For this assignment, I have selected 10 objective questions, which include 5 comprehension questions and 5 error correction questions. For the structured question, I have chosen an email writing question. These questions were developed through discussions with English teachers at my school, Sekolah Menengah Sains Bagan Datoh, and some are based on material from an item designing course. I have selected a group of 10 Form 3 students from the class of 3 Ibnu Battutah as the respondents. Generally, the class can be categorised as having an upper-intermediate level of English proficiency. 1
