Draw something that represents you

ACTIVITY 1.

BASIC GEOMETRY (introduction exercises) What did you find most complicated and why? What I found most complicated was correctly representing the different views (top, front, and side) of the geometric objects. How do you think you could improve your results? I could improve my results by studying more examples of technical drawings. Using reference guides or real 3D models also helps me to understand what parts of the object are visible in each view. Additionally, I could take more time to lightly sketch the main shapes before finalizing the lines and adding hatching What did you learn? I learned that each orthographic view (top, front, and side) shows only the surfaces visible from that direction—so the top is not seen in front or side views.

ACTIVITY 2.

Perspectives with 1 vanishing point. 2024 What did you find most complicated and why? What I found most complicated was keeping the perspective consistent with only one vanishing point. Sometimes, while trying to make the drawing look more realistic, I accidentally added lines that seemed to converge toward two points instead of one. It was tricky to make sure all the depth lines went toward the same vanishing point and that the objects didn’t look distorted. How do you think you could improve your results? I could improve my results by reviewing more examples of one-point perspective drawings and practicing the difference between one point and two-point perspectives. Using the vanishing point tool more carefully and double-checking that all my depth lines converge at the same point would also help. What did you learn? I learned that in a one-point perspective, all lines that show depth must meet at a single vanishing point on the horizon line.

ACTIVITY 2.

Perspectives with 2 vanishing points. 2024 What did you find most complicated and why? What I found most complicated was keeping the two vanishing points consistent while making the drawing look balanced and proportional. How do you think you could improve your results? I could improve my results by drawing the reference or construction lines more softly, using less pressure so they can be easily erased or blended later. Practicing my hand control and layering lines gradually would help. I could also plan the composition better before outlining. What did you learn? learned that in a two-point perspective, all horizontal lines converge toward two different vanishing points on the horizon line, which helps create a more realistic sense of depth. I also learned the importance of line soft reference lines make the final drawing cleaner and more professional looking.

Environment Layout (Visit to UNAM) What did you find most complicated and why? What I found most complicated was capturing the correct proportions and perspective of the buildings, especially when using vanishing points. How do you think you could improve your results? I could improve my results by practicing more perspective drawing and studying how light and shadow affect the shapes of buildings. Also, spending more time analyzing the structure before starting to draw would help me plan the composition better. What did you learn? I learned to observe architecture more carefully and to appreciate the relationship between buildings and their urban context. The visit to UNAM helped me understand how architecture can express cultural identity. I was impressed by how Mexican cultural inclusion is present in every detail of the campus from the murals and materials to the way spaces are designed to reflect the country’s history and the spirit of its students. This experience taught me that architecture is not only about form, but also about meaning and cultural expression.
