Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan are working on an agreement to increase trade in local currencies, emphasizing their countries' importance as mutual trade partners. The Reserve Bank of India has cleared the way for trade using local currencies, allowing for transactions in Indian Rupee and Tanzanian Shilling. Both leaders expressed a commitment to expanding bilateral trade volumes and exploring new opportunities for economic cooperation.
India lauded its contingent for their exceptional performance at the Hangzhou Asian Games, where they achieved a record 107 medals, marking the best performance in 60 years. The Indian athletes' hard work and determination were highlighted, bringing pride to the nation. The delegation surpassed the 100-medal mark, comprising 28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze medals.
On a different note, the Odisha train accident tragedy saw 28 unclaimed bodies cremated by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. The incident, which occurred in June, claimed 296 lives, with several others injured. The bodies were preserved at AIIMS and later handed over for cremation in a dignified manner.
