About Galing Pook Awards 2017
The Galing Pook Awards is a program that recognizes innovation and excellence in local governance, starting in 1993. The vision is to promote innovation, sustainability, citizen empowerment, and excellence in local governance, while the mission is to encourage partnerships to improve quality of life. The selection process involved a committee screening 158 applications, with 10 winners selected this year.
Message from the GPF Chair
The winners of the Galing Pook Awards 2017 showcased creativity, resourcefulness, and hard work in finding solutions to local issues. The winners from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao addressed various challenges with the active participation of their communities. The hope is for these examples of good governance to be replicated nationwide, with gratitude to partners like the Land Bank of the Philippines and support from government agencies.
