In the December 2024 edition of Llanasa Life, we are excited to share news about the Red Lion in Llanasa, which has finally found new owners after being empty for over four years. The new owners, a local family consisting of Jimmy Platt, Frances, Melanie, and Doug, are eager to revitalize the historic Grade II listed building without altering its appearance. Their plans include opening a farm-to-table restaurant, providing comfortable accommodation, and hosting special events to attract visitors to the pub.
Let's get to know the team behind the Red Lion. Frances, with 29 years of experience in customer service and safety at United Airlines, brings valuable front-line management skills to the table. Doug, an Executive Chef with culinary expertise in various cuisines, including French, Italian, Asian, British, and American, is ready to lead the restaurant's kitchen. Melanie, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a background in hospitality, is no stranger to catering for special events and has a keen interest in rock climbing. Jimmy, with a rich history in hospitality management both in the UK and the USA, is eager to apply his skills to make the Red Lion a success.
Jimmy's journey in the hospitality industry has taken him from assistant General Manager at Pontins in Prestatyn to Complex Manager at Greenacres in Porthmadog. In the USA, he ventured into landscape construction and later diversified into providing drug and alcohol testing services for casinos and airlines in Las Vegas. With a wealth of experience and entrepreneurial spirit, Jimmy is looking forward to bringing success to the Red Lion with his family's support.
