PROJECT 01

PROJECT 01 For the first project, I looked at ways to use solids and voids to construct an interesting shape related to a cube rather than just a regular cube. Form Manipulation is accomplished through fundamental gestures such as subtraction, interlocking, overlapping, slicing, and sectioning. Students learn about what makes up a space -lines, surfaces, and mass-as well as the various ways to manipulate them within a pre-defined order, the cube. The project emphasises the idea that a collection of smaller things, however simples adds up to a larger whole and its complexities. The power to manipulate form is in our hands and the concepts lie deep within us, Waiting to be manifested. PROJECT 01

Initial Designs

My initial idea revolved around the concept of " peace within the chaos". After sketching up a few ideas, i slowly started to notice a few issues. My structure was too solid, resulting in minimal light manipulation. Process Once my concept for the project was solidified, assembly of the actual design was initiated. Through trial and error, I managed to complete the structure which brings us to the final design.

PROJECT 02

PROJECT 02 In this new task, students are now moved into groups to expand the scale of cube into a wearable sculpture that can be worn or fit a single person. Form Manipulation started and initiated in Project 01 is now extended scale to include the human anatomy. Design gestures first introduced in Project 01 like subtraction, interlocking, overlapping, slicing and sectioning shall be carried into the Project 02. As with the earlier project, students are free to manipulate the form within a predefined order, the Cube. As a group, students will ideate the manipulation from a single cube or a combination of multiple cubes in relation to the human anatomy.

PROJECT 02

Concept

The primary design concept was created by fusing the various cube designs created by group members for Project 01. We chose to make the sculpture functional by turning it into a Pochade with a variety of compartments so that it could conveniently store art tools.
