FAIC NEWS President’s Message

2021: New dawn for the Hospitality industry M y heartiest congratulations to the team FAIC for launching the virtual version of their magazine. It’s always a delight to connect with our hospitality community. 2020 was a game changer for the global economy and business. And we are all aware that the F&B industry endured the maximum losses due to Covid19. However, if we see closely, 2020 has actually pointed out the flaws and voids in our sector. The wedding industry was drowned in blatant pomp and show. This elongated the list of expenditures for the hosts and the caterers too. But the pestilence taught us that we can organise our weddings at a smaller scale and make profits too. Small scale weddings are boosting the trend of destination weddings as well. This in turn is reviving the tourism industry too. As they say: slow but steady wins the race. We have to employ the lessons we’ve learned during Covid19 to build a better and sustainable business model. We are researching to minimise the wastage in the kitchen to reduce costs and expenses. In my opinion, we can employ this period of lull to fill the gaps in the system. Then we can emerge stronger than ever. Lastly, I’d like to applaud the hospitality industry for supporting their brethren and the society during the global pestilence. And many of us still need a lot of aid and guidance to reach their former glory. “We rise by lifting others”. Let’s pledge to grow together. Thank you, Narendra Somani President, FAIC 4 March 2021 | FAIC.IN
