UPDATE

GIANT CRANE IN ACTION Exciting progress has been made in the latest phase of Arrowe Park Hospital’s new urgent and emergency care project. On 30th November, two air handling units (AHUs) were carefully lifted into place from the sunken garden, nestled between the Clinical Decision Unit and Ward 43. These units are integral to the new build’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, ensuring clean, comfortable air circulation throughout the facility. Due to their sheer size and precision requirements, a giant crane was employed for the installation, marking a spectacular milestone in the project. Thanks to meticulous planning, including comprehensive safety and traffic management measures, the installation was completed smoothly and with minimal disruption. The new AHUs are set to significantly enhance air quality and temperature regulation, creating a healthier and more comfortable environment for staff, patients, and visitors alike.

THE PEOPLE’S POP UP The new urgent and emergency care project roadshow arrived at West Kirby's Marine Lake Health and Wellbeing Centre on 11th December. Following a successful visit to Tranmere’s St Catherine's Health Centre in November, visitors and staff had the opportunity to meet our communications team, ask questions, and learn about the multi-million-pound project aimed at transforming urgent care in Wirral. Attendees also enjoyed sweets and received wallet cards with essential information. These events are part of an ongoing engagement tour designed to inform and involve the community in the hospital’s future developments. The next pop-up will take place at Victoria Central Health Centre in Wallasey on 15th January.

REFLECTING ON 2024: A Year of Advancement 2024 has been a year of remarkable progress, highlighted by significant developments in our healthcare infrastructure. In June, the completion of Phase 2 marked a major milestone, introducing an eight-space resuscitation area, versatile clinical spaces, and improved staff facilities. This phase also saw the implementation of a new wayfinding strategy, enhancing navigation for patients and visitors alike. The momentum continued into July with the commencement of the latest phase, which focuses on modernising the mental health facility. This phase is not just about structural improvements; it also includes thoughtful landscaping designed to enhance patient safety. SPREADING CHRISTMAS CHEER The lead contractors behind the hospital’s new build, Tilbury Douglas, are making the season brighter with their annual toy appeal. On December 20th, children staying at Arrowe Park Hospital will receive an array of gifts, ensuring the magic of Christmas reaches them, even away from home. This heart warming initiative reflects the project’s dedication to supporting the local community and spreading joy during the festive season.
