This is a small step towards creating more awareness and acceptance that L O V E comes in forms, shape and size. It crosses gender and race, and what matters most is that we celebrate it! Creating this story is also an expression of vulnerability, of sharing somewhat our story together. This book is also a milestone for us, because this is the first concrete collaboration between two visual artists coming from different disciplines and sensibilities… and of life partners who support each other through different endeavors. This is a Brave effort in celebrating love that is Beautiful! RJ and Donghyun
and The Painter In a bustling city filled with colorful lights and endless adventures, there lived a cheerful and chubby Filipino gay man named Macky. Macky was a very busy creative and fashion stylist, known for his vibrant ork that made everyone smile. His love for fashion was only matched by his love for his partner, Joon, a tall and handsome Korean painter. -1-
His paintings, full of bright, vivid hues, told stories of mountains, rivers, and dreams. He was also known for his warm heart and gentle smile. Macky and Joon had been together for seven wonderful years, and their love for each other grew stronger with every passing day. -2-
Macky and Joon's home was a blend of their two cultures. The walls of their apartment were adorned with Joon's beautiful paintings, while Macky's collection of fashion magazines and colorful fabrics decorated the living room. They loved to spend their evenings together, watching movies or going out for adventures. One of their favorite pastimeswas visiting the local museum. Macky admired the intricate designs in the exhibits, while Joon loved capturing the essenceof the art on his canvass. After each visit, they would head to their favorite supermarket, where Macky would excitedly fill their cart with Filipino ingredients, and Joon would pick out Korean treats. Joon had a special fondness for Filipino culture. On weekends, he would delight Macky by singing Filipino songs on their karaoke machine. His rendition of "Tadhana" and "Anak" always brought tears of joy to Macky's eyes. In return, acky adored Korean dramas and spent hours watching them with Joon, often excitedly discussing the plot and characters of latest episodes. -3-
Food was another way Macky and Joon celebrated their love. Macky had a soft spot for Korean dishes. He couldn’t resist the spicy kimchi jjigae and tteokbokki, both of which he considers his comfort food. Joon, on the other hand, was enchanted by Filipino cuisine. He loved Macky’s sinigang, a tangy soup, and adobo, a savory stew. Every Sunday, they would have a cook-fest. Macky would prepare Filipino dishes, and Joon would whip up Korean delights. They’d laugh, chat, and savor their creations, each bite reminding them of the love they shared and the cultures they cherished. Their little dog, Bibo, was always by their side, wagging his tail happily as he enjoyed the delicious smells wafting from the kitchen. -6-
