MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear PICE-UAE Chapter Members, March…. A month for all women. I remember in my early years, whenever the month of March comes, everyone is excited to hear about who will graduate, whose son or daughter will climb up the stage and accept their medals, let alone their diplomas. Who will have a grand celebration in the neighborhood to congratulate a graduate? Yes you heard it right! March is the month of recognition and graduation. This is the month to celebrate success. But recently, and say, the modern ages, the month of March is not only to celebrate the graduates. Now, it is also the month to celebrate the women. And I mean all women who have been successful in their chosen paths. There are those who chose to excel in their professions, there are those who loves art, there are also those who loves to do different community works and there are also those who chose to be the manager of their household. Whatever and wherever they may be, they are all celebrated. Why is it that we celebrate this month so special for women? Most of us know that in the earlier times, women are considered weak and they only fit to work inside the house. Their rights are very limited. Their voice is not often being heard. They do not have an impact of what is happening around. Sometimes, they are also named as trophies. And others may not know some of these women’s struggles. After all of these difficulties, the time definitely changed a lot. Through the years, women are beginning to be noticed. They started to step up and stand out. They started to multi-task and juggle things altogether. That is the reason why we celebrate. Our voices are beginning to be heard. We are becoming a part of the modern society. We are being acknowledged and recognized. We are starting to take up lead roles that is giving a different touch and impact to the community we belong. To all Ladies out there, whether you are a Manager, an employee, a stay at home mother, a wife or a combination of those. Please raise your glasses and sing the anthem, Who Run the World (Girls)? (by Beyonce). Because we are Stronger (by Kelly Clarkson) and we deserve Respect (by Aretha Franklin). Engr. Sheryl G. Dela Pena L.PICE, T.PICQS, ASEAN Engineer, PMP 2024 PICE-UAE Chapter President
