BAKUNJANG At the "Mangarani Park" Public Participation Wikithon, BASAkalimantan Wiki sought to involve young individuals in urban policy by designating parks (mangarani). This engagement reflects their active participation in public policy, a key outcome of the "Youth Influence" initiative conducted in Banjarbaru in July 2025. BkW Program Coordinator Hudan Nur noted that Banjarbaru, the capital of South Kalimantan Province, boasts numerous parks. However, she remarked that these parks currently lack names and are merely identified by their locations. "For instance, Taman STM (STM Park) derives its name from its proximity to STM. Similarly, various other parks, including Taman Mawar (Rose Park), are named for their location on Jalan Mawar," elucidated Hudan, who attended SMKN 1 Banjarbaru on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, accompanied by IT BkW Kin Muhammad. Consequently, BkW invited the youth of Banjarbaru to propose names for these parks. To reflect greater local wisdom, BkW suggested that the names be in the Banjar language. "Assigning a name in the Banjar language will reinforce the region's identity. Furthermore, the Banjar language possesses profound significance," remarked the bespectacled woman.

During the bakunjang visit to SMAN 2 Banjarbaru, the BkW team was welcomed by

the Public Relations Division, Mrs. Nores, and the Principal of SMAN 2, Saryono SP.d. "We support BkW's initiatives. BkW has previously engaged with SMAN 2 on various themes. This activity is also integral to the students' learning process. We anticipate it will impart knowledge and advantages for our students," stated SMAN 2 Principal Saryono. The BkW team that attended included Adhansatya Praja (Event Manager), Diang Anggrek (Partnership and Social Media Coordinator), Bumi Ibrahim (Logistics Coordinator), and Soraya Naila Hasibuan as the event announcer. The 72 students who participated in WPP#3 "Mangarani Taman" demonstrated considerable enthusiasm. Prior to being invited to suggest names by responding to questions on the BkW website, they were first required to complete a questionnaire (pre-test) concerning their utilization of digital technology or gadgets in their daily lives as young individuals. Next, Diang Anggrek elucidated the necessity of knowledge in problem-solving, critical thinking, and persuasive writing. This was aimed at preparing students to effectively respond or suggest park names on the BkW website. "Students must be instructed in problem-solving, critical thinking, and persuasive writing to comprehend the challenges they encounter and how to devise solutions," Anggrek express clearly. "With this comprehension, it is anticipated that the suggested names will be genuinely considered and significant, both in terms of nomenclature and philosophy," she continued.

POLICY DIALOGUE #1 “MANGARANI TAMAN”

IN BANJARBARU, BASAKALIMANTAN WIKI – DISPERKIM ENGAGES YOUTH PARTICIPATION Palidangan Bapala refers to Guntung Paikat Park. (@KiaraDisafani) 3. Basimban refers to Landasan Ulin Park. (@rizkyfirdaus916) Karindangan refers to the Cahaya Bintang Earth Park. (@silvynadewi) 4. Bauntung refers to Taman Simpang 4. (@Gustirahman37) The names of parks in Banjarbaru are often derived from their geographical locations. For instance, Palm Park is named for its location in the Palm area, while Simpang Empat Park is named for its position at an intersection. To ensure that parks are designated with meaningful names rather than mere geographical identifiers, BASAkalimatan Wiki (BkW) organized a Public Participation Wikithon competition titled "Mangarani Taman," engaging youth, schoolchildren, university students, and local communities. The competition, conducted in September 2025, attracted 406 responses from youth participants proposing park names. Subsequently, the BkW (City Development Agency) refined these suggestions to approximately 30 names, which were then assessed by three judges: Ir. Abdussamad, Head of the Banjarbaru City Housing and Settlement Agency; cultural activist Sri Naida; and Ida Komalasari, an academic expert in the Banjar language. Consequently, four winners were identified, comprising two from the general/student category and two from the student category. The names of the winning parks in the general category are as follows: 1st place "Karindangan Park" by Selvyna Dewi and "Basimban Himung Barataan Park" by Rizky Firdaus. In the Student Category, 1st place was awarded to "Palindangan Bapala Park" by Kiara Disafani and "Bauntung Park" by Gusti Rahman. These names will be assigned to four parks: the park at the four-way intersection, Guntung Paikat RTH, the park at the Cahaya Bintang Complex, and the park at Landasan Ulin. On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the BkW engaged in discussions regarding the names of the parks with the Department of Housing and Settlements, the victorious youth, and various other youth communities at the South Kalimantan Education Quality Assurance Center (BPMP) in Banjarbaru. Policy Dialogue #1, titled "Mangarani Taman," was convened to further establish the naming, its significance, and the implementation process. BASAkalimatan Wiki Program Coordinator Hudan Nur emphasized that the park's name must be in the Banjar language. "The name in Banjar serves as a distinctive feature or identity, while also contributing to the preservation of the Banjar language," he remarked.

POLICY DIALOGUE #1 “MANGARANI TAMAN”

Hudan Nur expressed gratitude to the Department of Housing and Settlements for

embracing the BkW initiative to conduct activities for youth in the "mangarani taman" of Banjarbaru City. The Head of the Public Works and Housing Agency, Abdussamad, expressed his appreciation to the BkW for initiating the "ngaran" (naming) of parks in Banjarbaru City. "It is my hope that this naming process will genuinely involve the youth of Banjarbaru," he stated. The outcomes of the discussion, which was organized into four groups—each focusing on a specific park name—yielded several proposals that are anticipated to be implemented by Disperkim or through collaborative efforts. One suggestion is to designate the intersection park as "Karindangan Park." "Given the strategic location of the intersection, naming it Karindangan Park is most fitting. This will ensure that visitors to Banjarbaru always experience a sense of nostalgia," stated Diang Anggrek, facilitator for Group 2. Meanwhile, Group 4 suggested naming the park in Landasan Ulin as Basimban Himung Barataan Park. "Given that the park already features play facilities for children, it would be more appropriate to designate it as Basimban Himung Barataan Park, as it serves as a comfortable space for children to play and enjoy," stated Soraya Nailiya, the facilitator of Group 4. Furthermore, all groups advocated for the establishment of a sign or inscription that narrates the naming process, encompassing the relevant details. "This will enable park visitors to comprehend the naming process, which involved young individuals. It is also essential to document it so that everyone can view the names," stated Praja, the facilitator of Group 1. Isma Sari, Head of Parks at the Banjarbaru Department of Housing and Settlements, who participated in the inaugural Policy Dialogue "Mangarani Taman," expressed her satisfaction with the event. "This is outstanding, as all stakeholders are engaged, particularly the youth. Currently, the four parks we previously designated will undergo renaming," she stated, noting that there are 135 parks, green open spaces, and public facilities in Banjarbaru.
