CARING FOR MENTAL HEALTH They participated in Wiki Bakunjang, a collaborative program from BASAkalimantan Wiki (BkW) which always carries the message that youth voices are not only important, but vital in shaping the knowledge ecosystem and policy dialogue in South Kalimantan. The event opened with an introduction to BkW, an open knowledge project that has also achieved international recognition. Hudan Nur, BkW Program Coordinator, reminded us that on July 7, 2025, BASAibu Wiki was selected as the winner of the prestigious World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025 from the United Nations (UN) for its contribution to the development of local literacy and community empowerment, especially for young people. This program is also part of the Aruh Pemuda Kalimantan 2025 series, a forum that presents various strategic youth issues. For many students in attendance, it provides a new space to share ideas in a relaxed, open atmosphere, free from academic pressure. GIBS participants came from diverse regional and linguistic backgrounds, demonstrating that multilingualism is not just an identity, but a vital social asset. Even at home, some students admitted to regularly switching languages uring d conversations. This was described as an example of how diversity can be a strength in discussions. Hudan reminded that youth opinions should not be underestimated, especially when it comes to public policy dialogue. "Youth are vital," he said, emphasizing that spaces like this provide a platform for GIBS students to learn to express their ideas in a healthy, polite, and persuasive manner.

overcoming mental health issues. "Be a good friend to someone who wants to talk," Ataya said, emphasizing that everyone deserves a safe listening ear. Ataya's remarks drew nods of agreement from several other participants. The response sparked a discussion about how stereotypes often underestimate teenagers' ability to manage stress. Wiki Bakunjang offers a counterpoint, emphasizing that the younger generation possesses strength, creativity, and new ways of understanding the world, including through digital media. One participant, Rafael Agnan, born in 2010, offered a perspective that suddenly silenced the atmosphere. He believed that mental health is the foundation for every aspect of life. "It's really important to talk about mental health, because if it's damaged, everything will go wrong," he said bluntly. When asked to name a preventative measure, he answered without hesitation, "Don't keep it to yourself. Find a trusted friend to talk to." He added that within his circle of friends, mental health issues are actually quite well-regarded. "My friends are quite aware." But what was most unique was when Rafael mentioned his personal way of relieving stress with the help of artificial intelligence. "Sometimes I talk to ChatGPT or AI. It just makes me feel more comfortable," he said. This statement reflects the new phenomenon of technology becoming a part of the younger generation's outlets.

Space for UIN Antasari Students BASAkalimantan Wiki (BkW) held a Wiki Bakunjang event at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, Banjarbaru Campus, on Monday (3/11). The event was attended by 130 first- to fifth-semester students and addressed the issues of mental health and the stigma of the strawberry generation. In line with the theme of the 9th Anniversary of the Islamic Library and Information Science Student Association (HMJ), this activity is also part of the Aruh Pemuda Kalimantan 2025 series. Through discussions, reflections, and writing practices, BkW provides a safe space for students to voice their experiences and views regarding mental health. Participants were introduced to the #4 BkW Public Participation Wikithon with questions about the role of young people in speaking up about mental health issues amidst social stigma. Their opinions were then collected through the BASAkalimantanWiki.org platform. BkW's social media team member, Diang Anggrek, emphasized that mental health challenges facing youth in South Kalimantan are still related to limited resources, access to services, and literacy. The discussion was relaxed yet meaningful, addressing academic pressures, social burdens, and the challenges of the digital era. The Head of the IPII Student Association (HMJ IPII), Ahmad Muhaimin, expressed his commitment to follow up by opening a free consultation room for UIN Antasari students. The event concluded with a Banjar language quiz and a group photo, conveying the message that sharing and dialogue can be the first steps toward recovery.

About Mental Health The Pangeran Samudera Hall of the South Kalimantan Youth Empowerment and Development Agency (BPMP) served as a meeting place for youth ideas on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. The event, organized by BASAkalimantan Wiki (BkW), featured three main agendas: the awarding of prizes for the Public Participation Wikithon #4 on mental health issues, a mental health policy dialogue, and the inauguration of the Kalimantan Youth Council (DPK) by the Chairperson of the Banjarbaru Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD). The event was opened by Rizana Mirza, Assistant I for Government and Social Welfare of Banjarbaru City, representing the Mayor of Banjarbaru. In her remarks, the local government emphasized the importance of youth dialogue spaces and their readiness to collaborate with the Kalimantan Youth Council and BASAkalimantan Wiki to build an inclusive and impactful public participation ecosystem. BkW Program Director, Hudan Nur, stated that the 4th Public Participation Wikithon attracted 428 entries from various regions. Four winners were selected from the general public and student categories. He also highlighted the mental health situation in South Kalimantan, with thousands of cases recorded since the pandemic, as a reminder that this issue requires serious, cross-sectoral attention. The policy dialogue then took place in two rotations of focus groups involving youth, community groups, and government representatives. Various issues emerged, ranging from academic pressures and exposure to digital information to limited access to mental health services. The forum aimed to sharpen ideas and open up opportunities for implementation in public policy.

Wiki Promotes Inclusive Mental Health Policies The Banjarbaru Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) hall became a space for cross-cultural dialogue on Tuesday (December 16, 2025). Students, university students, teachers, academics, community activists, civil servants, and journalists sat together in the Mental Health Public Policy Dialogue held by BASAkalimantan Wiki in collaboration with the Akademi Bangku Panjang Mingguraya. This forum brings together the winners of the Public Participation Wikithon, government agencies, communities, and the media with one main goal: to formulate public policy directions while encouraging real action regarding mental health, especially for children and adolescents. A cross-regional perspective was also present through representatives from BASAbali Wiki, who emphasized that mental health issues are not merely local issues, but rather a shared challenge across various regions. The Banjarbaru City Government, through the DP3APMP2KB (Children's Empowerment and Development Agency) (DP3APMP2KB), has expressed its commitment to active involvement. The Head of DP3APMP2KB Banjarbaru, Erma Epiyana Hartati, assessed that this dialogue aligns with the Bintang Ceria program, which aims to create a safe space for children and adolescents to consult, receive support, and receive appropriate service referrals. The discussion was open and reflective. One idea that emerged was the importance of developing peer counselors as safe and ethical listeners. Participants emphasized that the counselor's role is not to judge or provide instant solutions, but rather to listen, document the situation, and provide appropriate recommendations, including referrals to professionals.

impairments expressed the need for a welcoming and conducive space where they could discuss mental health issues without communication barriers. In terms of health services, the Banjarbaru Health Office stated its readiness to support through mentoring and providing materials for prospective peer counselors, both offline and online. This dialogue marks the first step toward establishing an inclusive, safe, and sustainable mental health support system. For BASAkalimantan Wiki, this forum affirms that policies that support mental health must emerge from a shared voice— from students to policymakers.
