Holy Bible: The Irreversible Word of God

THE WORD OF GOD The Holy Bible is the eternal and unchanging Word of the Living God—our Creator, Maker, and Sovereign King. Every word that proceeds from His mouth stands immutable, beyond alteration or revocation. No power, no office, no human authority can nullify or overturn it. Let all who would presume to do so understand—they tread upon perilous ground at their own risk. “And He changeth the times and the seasons: He removeth kings, and setteth up kings: He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding” - Daniel 2:21 R a j a n G e o rg e 1

Holy Bible: The Irreversible Word of God No Other Text Compares A. Holy Scriptures Most religions throughout the world claim to possess their own sacred texts, each asserting divine revelation and inspiration. While the majority acknowledge the existence of only one God, we nevertheless encounter numerous writings purportedly originating from different sources. To concede that all religions and their texts are equally authentic revelations from God is, therefore, deeply unsettling. If there is but one true God, then His revelation must exhibit harmony and consistency. One God cannot issue contradictory instructions to different groups of people who share the same world and moral responsibility. Consequently, it follows that not all scriptural texts can be equally true or divinely inspired. To address this crucial issue, we must ask an essential question: Which scriptural text can authentically provide the answers to life’s ultimate questions? Just as one requires a map to reach a destination, humanity likewise needs divine guidance to navigate life’s journey. The publishers of maps may differ, yet the map to a particular destination remains the same regardless of who prints it. In the same way, an authentic revelation from God must be consistent and verifiable through sincere and careful inquiry. If all humanity yearns for eternity, why is there not a universally accepted guide that instructs us in moral truth and spiritual restoration? There is only one God, and the path that leads back to Him must therefore be singular. The guide that directs us toward that path must also be one. Hence, we need 3 divine revelation—God’s own communication to humanity—delivered through His Word, the Holy Scriptures. This sacred Word alone provides the clear and trustworthy map that leads us to our eternal destination. Even though most religious texts claim to be true and to originate from God, on what basis do they make this claim? What qualifies a book to be considered sacred or holy? Merely declaring that it is sacred is not enough. There must be verifiable evidence—facts that are not subject to personal interpretation, subjective belief, or speculation. First and foremost, the “Holy Scriptures” must prove beyond reasonable doubt that the book is of divine origin. God must be its Author, not man. God is not man, and man is not God. If a man authored it, it is not from God. But if God authored it, it can be proven. Mistakes are not divine—neither are lies nor errors. God does not err. There should be characteristics that prove it comes from a higher source: truths, knowledge, and foresight beyond human capacity. It should reflect the nature of God, reveal who He is, and show how man can be united with Him. It must be authentic, verifiable, and timeless—coherent and complete. Any scripture that cannot provide sufficient evidence for its claims of divine inspiration cannot be believed. Secondly, it should answer the fundamental questions of life: Who am I? Why am I here? What is the purpose of life? Where am I going? Is there life after death? Is there heaven and hell? How can I attain eternal life? How can I be reconciled to my Creator? What is the

Holy Bible: The Irreversible Word of God true path? Why is the world in its current state? Why do people die? What is the origin of evil? What is sin, and why does it exist? How can it be overcome? Where did man come from? What is our future? Are there good and evil forces in the world, and how do they influence our lives? Are we mere products of chance, or do we have a destiny? Any scripture that claims to be divine must answer these questions definitively. Thirdly, it should provide provable moral standards and clear guidelines for living a holy and virtuous life in alignment with God’s nature. The moral teachings must align with the human conscience and must not promote partiality, hatred, violence, favoritism, or discriminations based on caste, class, color or creed. Its teachings must be universal—not tailored to a specific group. The same standards must apply to all people, transcending distinctions based on race, color, culture, or nationality. There must be no contradictions in its moral framework. If a religious text condones immorality, revenge, violence, or oppression, it cannot be from a holy God. God is holy, righteous, and just. His laws transcend time and all human limitations. Fourthly, scripture must not be a product of human evolution but a record of divine revelation. It should not be a collection of myths, legends, or folklore, but must contain clear historical records and eyewitness testimonies supported by archaeological evidence. It should not evolve over time. If it changes or is revised to suit social cultures developing through time, it cannot divine inspiration, inspiration or interaction. A divine message is eternal, immutable, and perfect from the beginning. God does not revise His Word or grow in knowledge. He is omniscient—He knows the end from the beginning and reveals it to His prophets, who inform us. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Therefore, true scripture must be eternally consistent—not a reflection of changing morals or evolving human thought. Fifthly, it should contain fulfilled prophecies—foretelling future events with such clarity and precision that they cannot be denied. Only God knows the end from the beginning. A divine book should have hundreds of prophecies fulfilled exactly as foretold—not vague or metaphorical predictions, but literal, historically verifiable events. No human can predict the future with perfect accuracy. If a book contains such fulfilled prophecies, it proves that its Author is outside of time and in control of history. This is among the strongest evidences of divine origin. Sixthly, scripture should possess divine power to transform lives—making sinners righteous, healing the brokenhearted, breaking addictions, setting captives free, and restoring people to their divine purpose. Only such sacred texts can claim divine origin. A divinely inspired writing must be more than philosophical treatises—it must be life-giving. It should change murderers into saints, thieves into givers, adulterers into pure vessels, and haters into lovers. Its words should pierce the heart, expose sin, and lift people from destruction into righteousness. A true scripture carries the breath of God and gives life to all who obey it. Seventh, it must provide a personal relationship with the Divine—not merely a system of rituals, but a way to intimately know and interact with God as Father, Friend, Savior, and Lord. It should not describe God as distant or unknowable. The true God desires to be known. He speaks, hears, acts, and reveals Himself to those who seek Him. Any scripture that portrays God as unreachable or indifferent is only a collection of myths. The true God is personal and relational, and any book claiming to be from Him must reveal that nature. God always listens to our prayers and answers them. He cares for each individual soul and fulfills their daily needs. He grieves when one is spiritually lost and rejoices when he is redeemed. Lastly, the true scripture must be consistent from beginning to end. The message, character, morality, and plan of God must be

4

coherent throughout. There should be no contradictions, no shifting standards, and no errors. It must be a unified revelation, progressively unfolding through time toward divine fulfillment. Only God could orchestrate such a revelation across centuries and through multiple human authors, yet produce one flawless, cohesive message. Prophetic declarations and their flawless fulfillment, as recorded in the Holy Bible, make it a unique book that stands the test of time. It provides seekers of truth with confirmation unmatched by any other religious text. Only the Bible confirms its claims through fulfilled prophecy. That is why the Bible proves to be the best guide for our spiritual journey—it is the only map that will help us navigate the true way out of this confusion. B. Be Alert: We May Be Trapped Most of us are like travelers lost in a maze, seeking a way out. There is a way out— but we have to discover it ourselves. That is our situation. We are stuck in alien territory, likely to be nabbed, punished, or even executed. Unless we find an escape route, we are surely doomed to our ill fate. We have very little time to find our exit and avoid the tragedy that awaits us. As sojourners on earth for only a brief while, we often wonder about the path we ought to choose to reach our destination. The most astounding fact is that we do not even have a clear knowledge of our destination—or the path that will take us there. A wrong turn can seal our destiny for the worse. We must be meticulous and clear-eyed, realizing that there is a way out. After traveling a long distance, only to realize that we were on the wrong track all along, it may be too late to correct our path. Whichever way we choose will lead us somewhere—but not necessarily to the true destination. Time is short. Any wrong turn may lead to confusion or despair, from which we might find no exit. It is not easy to abandon the religion one has followed all their life. Based on national 5 and cultural backgrounds, the world is filled with more religious traditions than can be listed. Each religion and its adherents claim to possess truth and moral guidance, yet most cannot clearly explain or defend their beliefs. Most major religions advocate noble human values, promoting peace, harmony, and brotherhood. They also teach that evil deeds invite judgment or consequences—even after death. However, most religions do not claim a personal God who interacts with individuals, nor do they offer comprehensive teachings about life after death or provide a clear path to our eternal destination. Neither their seers, priests, nor religious teachers are capable of providing reliable information about their god or a clear path to the destination. Religions, influenced by culture and tradition, have come up with different assumptions about God and the afterlife. Most hold to the idea of a universal god and an endless cycle of transmigration based on one’s karma— out of which one cannot escape. Some religions teach that God is a person, yet not available for personal relationship and indifferent to individual needs. When devotees call on their god for comfort, they have no assurance that the god they invoke knows them personally. Often, they are calling on a tribal deity rooted in regional traditions, acknowledging that all gods are essentially the same—merely known by different names. But the Bible clearly states: “I am the Lord, and there is none else; there is no God beside Me.” (Isaiah 45:5–12). God further reveals that He created us, the earth, the heavens, and everything in them. The statement is clear, leaving no ambiguity about God’s declaration. It is a sure word. It is vital to realize that there is only one God—and that He relates to us just as we relate to Him. He knows us personally and answers our prayers according to our needs. He hears our cries and responds to our petitions: “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.” (Isaiah 65:24). Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and

6

Holy Bible: The Irreversible Word of God you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7). If only we acknowledge Him and choose to follow His path, we are on the right track. Yet we find ourselves trapped—bound by family and social entanglements that forbid individual freedom of choice. Their religious orders and scriptures have no bearing on divine truth, though they claim to, for they lack divine inspiration. It is rare to find, in the scriptures of most religions, specific prophecies or future events that validate their claims of divine revelation. Where predictions exist, they are often vague, unfulfilled, or projected so far into the future that they lose relevance. Moreover, historical and archaeological evidence to support their claims is seldom found. Many of their teachings do not align with truth, leaving sincere seekers feeling betrayed by their inherited traditions and religious texts. Anyone who feels a deep void within cannot find true satisfaction or spiritual refreshment in them. Yet those within such systems often find it extremely difficult to leave, fearing ostracism or even death. Any religion that prevents its adherents from seeking and discovering truth is not from God. God has granted the Freedom of Choice to all humanity. That freedom is fundamental— originating directly from the Creator Himself. Any power, whether kings, rulers, nations, religions, communities, or even families, that suppresses such freedom is antithetical to both religious and individual liberty. They stand opposed to God and are adversaries of His power. A religion confident in the veracity of its doctrines has nothing to fear, for truth can withstand any scrutiny. Religions or texts that threaten their critics with death or dire consequences reveal their fear of examination— proving they do not derive from a divine source. The same is true of those that threaten punishment for leaving their fold. Followers of truth face no such threats. They belong to the family of God and are continually blessed—whether they stay or depart—for they are not forbidden to leave. They will not face ostracism, death, or curses for choosing another faith. They possess God-given freedom, which no man can annul. Yet the consequences of their choices will be revealed on the Day of Judgment, when the Lord will reward each person according to the choices he made in life and the deeds he performed. Religions that compel adherence through fear of damnation or death are manmade structures designed to empower a few at the expense of the many. Their true motives— power, influence, and financial gain—are cloaked in the guise of religion and served to the spiritually blind who dwell in the darkest corners of deception. It takes courage, fortitude, and great sacrifice to break free from the fetters that have bound multitudes of innocent lives through generations of false teachings and indoctrination. It is the duty of every seeker of truth to bid farewell to deception. As Jesus said, “He who wishes to follow Me must take up his cross and follow Me.” Following the truth is never easy—it comes at a great cost and often demands selfsacrifice. Those who have found the truth have paid with their lives, recognizing the eternal value of truth over temporal existence. They have paid a heavy price, choosing between life and death, yet to them, the price was worth it—for their spiritual gain far outweighed any material loss. It is the responsibility of each individual to reclaim his spiritual freedom, for every person will be held accountable for the choices he makes—whether by free will or under external pressure. To remain trapped is a choice, just as breaking free is a choice. Jesus came to set us free from such entrapments. We must remember: if our path is wrong, we will end up at the wrong destination— whether deceived or deliberate. Being deceived will not correct our course. Unless we recognize deception and change direction, we are doomed. Following the majority is not a reliable guide, for multitudes traveling the wrong track are

6

tragically deceived and unaware of it. The Holy Scripture is the only reliable source available to us today—unless one receives direct divine revelation, which is exceedingly rare. The majority make their choices not based on scriptural guidance but on external influences, ignoring the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Choosing to follow the crowd endangers our search for truth, for a single wrong choice can lead us straight to the pit of hell. The path to eternal life is narrow, and few find it. Jesus warned: “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:14). C. God’s Direct Interactions with Man Prophet Amos declares, “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7). John the Revelator records the words of the Lord, saying, “Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter” (Revelation 1:19). These same truths are affirmed throughout the entire Bible—from the first book, Genesis, to the last book, Revelation. Most of the major events in human history are recorded in Scripture. The books of Daniel and Revelation reveal in explicit detail how history unfolds and what future events are yet to occur. When His disciples asked what would be the sign of His coming and of the end of the world, Jesus clearly described the sequence of events in the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 24). When the LORD God saw that the inhabitants of the earth had become intolerantly and irredeemably wicked, He determined to destroy the world with a flood. This He revealed to His prophet Noah, who warned the world of the impending destruction, preaching righteousness for one hundred and twenty years (2 Peter 2:5). Then God said to Noah, “The end of all living creatures has come before Me, because 7 through them the earth is filled with violence. Now behold, I will destroy both them and the earth” (Genesis 6:13). Surely, nothing in the world has ever happened without the LORD first revealing it to His prophets. The people who were to be affected were forewarned so that they might repent and change their ways, as in the case of the people of Nineveh. When Jonah preached to them concerning the impending judgment, they humbled themselves, fasted, and prayed to the LORD, thus averting total destruction (Jonah 3:5–10). The Bible, as the Holy Scripture, is the only record that presents a continuous divine communication with mankind. God speaking directly with man is unique to the Bible. No other sacred text bears witness to such divinehuman interaction, where communication between God and man is not an occasional occurrence but a consistent and defining feature of His relationship with humanity. C o n s t a n t communication with man is one of the primary characteristics of God, who established the plan of redemption to restore humanity’s relationship with its Creator. We must recognize that sin separated man from God: “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2) The Bible reveals that God continually communicates with humanity. For example, before sin entered the world, God came down to speak with man. As recorded in Genesis, God conversed directly with Adam and continually visited him in person—a mysterious phenomenon unique to the biblical narrative of divine-human interaction. No other religious text offers such a vivid portrayal of an intimate relationship between God and man: “And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And He said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof

Holy Bible: The Irreversible Word of God I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Unto the woman He said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And unto Adam He said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” (Genesis 3:8–19) The God revealed in the Bible maintained constant communication with humanity—sometimes directly, and at other times through His prophets. The entire Bible is a record of God’s ongoing communication with His people. After Cain’s offering was rejected and Abel’s offering accepted, God confronted Cain directly: “And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.” (Genesis 4:6–8) Later, after Cain killed Abel, God confronted him again (Genesis 4:9–15). This direct communication with someone who rebelled against God demonstrates that He speaks not only to those who love and serve Him, but also to those who reject His divine mercy. Genesis also states that “Enoch walked with God” for 300 years, and the LORD took him (Genesis 5:22–24). God’s direct communication with Noah is further recorded in Genesis, where He revealed His plan to destroy the world with a flood and instructed Noah to build an ark so that those who chose to live might be saved (Genesis 6:13–22). After the flood, God continued His dialogue with Noah, giving instructions for life after the flood (Genesis 8:15–9:17). Abraham also experienced direct encounters with God, who changed his name from Abram to Abraham and established a covenant with him, promising that he would become the father of many nations (Genesis 17). God sent His angels to rescue Lot before destroying Sodom and Gomorrah for their wickedness, demonstrating His personal concern for individuals and His ability to attend to their needs (Genesis 19). Even while committing to destroy the cities for their sin, God provided salvation for those devoted to Him. Genesis 35 recounts Jacob’s encounter with God: “Go back to Bethel. Stay there and build an altar to God who revealed Himself to you.” Two key points emerge here: God spoke directly to Jacob, showing that He communicates personally with man. God commanded Jacob to build an altar to the LORD who revealed Himself. In obedience, Jacob instructed his household to put away all foreign gods, which they buried under an oak tree in Shechem. God

8

Holy Bible: The Irreversible Word of God

then revealed Himself a second time, changed Jacob’s name to Israel, and promised great blessings to his descendants (Genesis 35:11– 12). By commanding Jacob to build an altar, God demonstrated that man should return to Him for true interaction—acknowledging his fallen state yet desiring reconciliation with his Maker, Creator, and Redeemer. The altar foreshadowed the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, confirming that God is not distant or unknowable but personal and willing to relate to humanity. Genesis contains many accounts of God’s interactions with man, but the examples above suffice to show how God initiates communication so that humanity may draw closer and maintain an intimate relationship with Him. When divine-human fellowship was severed by man’s rebellion, humanity could not restore it on its own. Yet, out of boundless love, God continued to speak and provided avenues to restore that fellowship. This is evident in the writings of Moses—the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. In Exodus, God spoke directly to His people on many occasions, particularly to Moses, whose encounters constitute the most detailed divine-human interaction in the Old Testament. God’s communication established ordinances to maintain an unbroken relationship with Him. For example, in Exodus 16, God spoke to the people of Israel, giving them His instructions and promising blessings if they obeyed. However, the people, terrified by His majesty, asked Moses to speak to God on their behalf. From that point, God ceased speaking directly to the people, communicating instead through His prophets. God desires humanity to escape their fallen state and regain fellowship with Him. He provides guidance to correct our paths, warns of the dangers of severing relationship with Him, and calls us to righteousness. The entire Bible stands as testimony of God’s continued interaction with humanity, urging them to walk the path leading to eternal life. 9 The prophets served as God’s chosen intermediaries, delivering warnings, promises, and assurances to help people amend their ways and live according to His laws. They warned of disobedience and proclaimed the blessings of faithfulness. The prophecies were entirely reliable, as the Apostle Peter affirms: “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (2 Peter 1:21) What distinguishes Christianity is the pinpoint accuracy of biblical prophecy. It proclaims Jesus Christ as the only God and Savior, who personally interacts with humanity through Scripture and the prophets. Prophetic revelations about humanity’s future and life after death are of utmost importance to anyone concerned with eternity. The Bible provides divine revelations from a God who continually communicates with His people. The God revealed in the Bible is not an abstract concept but a real Person, approachable through prayer and meditation. The fulfilled prophecies recorded in Scripture— some predicting events and naming individuals centuries before their birth—provide undeniable confirmation that the Bible is the Word of God and the only credible revelation humanity can trust. D. Examples of God’s Interaction with man through Prophets The prophecy concerning King Josiah is a strong example of divine revelation, where a man of God prophesied the birth of a Jewish king 300 years before he was born. “Behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the Lord unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense. And he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon thee.
