On Friday, June 6, 2025, the Martin Luther King Republicans Lincoln Douglass Dinner will take place at the Trump Hotel and Towers in Chicago. The event aims to celebrate the friendship between President Abraham Lincoln and Reverend Fredrick Douglass through dramatic readings and speeches. The dinner, now in its 17th year, provides a platform for diverse voices to engage in enriching dialogue.

Recognizing Excellence

The dinner will honor the Local North Star Award recipients, Jeanne Ives and Max Solomon, for their contributions to the Illinois GOP. These awards highlight the rich diversity of perspectives within the party and promote unity among members. The event also recognizes the National North Star recipients, HUD Secretary Tim Scott and Gianno Caldwell, who embody principles of community leadership and service.

Commemorative Book and Honored Guests

The dinner will feature dramatic prose and readings, including a short play titled "A President and the Preacher," written by Ebony Tillman. The event will also showcase the Six Principles of Nonviolence used by MLKR in the political arena. Additionally, the Tillman Family Press will release a handbook on Trump's Black Agenda this summer. The dinner will host special guest Bernadette Smith, Co-Chair of the Michigan Republican Party, who brings fresh energy and perspective to Republican leadership.
