Key Milestones in the Icon of

the Seas’ history October 2016 Royal Caribbean and Meyer Turku first announced the "Icon project" to build two unprecedented ships. The steel-cutting ceremony for the Icon of the Seas took place at the Meyer Turku shipyard. October 2021 June 2021 The first liquefied natural gas (LNG) tank for the ship was installed. The keel was laid, a traditional ceremony that officially marks the start of a ship's assembly. December 2022 The ship was launched into the water for the first time, a major step in its completion. During construction, the largest single glass and steel structure ever to be lifted onto a cruise ship was installed—the AquaDome. Icon of the Seas embarked on its first set of sea trials, a crucial phase to test the ship's technical systems, including its engines and navigation. November 2023 April 2022 June 2023 After 900 days of construction, the ship was officially handed over to Royal Caribbean from the shipyard. 6
